Recaro seat issue

have a Verde with stock Recaro interior. the problem is with the front passenger seat: when it is unoccupied, it will gradually recline the seat back and constantly requires being rolled back up. bumpy roads expedites the process. if someone is sitting in it on the other hand, the tension/weight on the seat back keeps it in place just fine.

anyone b.t.d.t., and have some fix for this?

This has been discussed under the term "Recaro Creep" but I have found a solution, I just need to get a picture of it and get the measurements.

Your seat washers are wasted! On each side, under the adjustment knob is (was) a red foam friction washer. In time they dry out and rot (time's up!) or worse, some helpful soul has decided to squirt some oil back there just to lube things up causing them to rot even more quickly. Solution? CHEAP! Remove the philips head screws and the retrieve the knobs, rotted foam and hard plastic backup washers. Find some 3/4" (I'll revise if otherwise) heater hose and cut squarely new washers 5/16" thick. This last part is the most difficult; I resorted to a radial arm saw to obtain a square cut and if you have someone in the neighborhood with a table saw it would be even easier.

I took my knob off and took it to the local hardware store and found some rubber grommets that fit into the knob perfectly, I then used some grease on both sides of the grommet and screwed it back in. Make sure not to screw the knob on too tight or it won't turn well, you just need a little pressure there to keep it from rolling back with vibration. I will try to post a pic tonight. I have had this working for about 6 months now.

Here are the pics of what I did. The groments are pretty cheap, maybe 50 cents each, and you have to grease them, but work great!
