$150 at Crutchfield buys you a nice, all-black Sony CDX-GT610ui that slides right in, and has an included ipod adapter. Can't beat that... Plus, the display is legible despite being located on the floor, behind the shifter...
The 410 is much better looking (green illumination to match the car) but doesn't include the ipod adapter. It's available separately, but pushes the price over the 610...

And *zero* dollars buys me a retro-cool official Alfa Romeo tape deck. Can't beat that with a stick.

Unless we're talking physically, in which case you totally can!
Tape decks and mini-stereo tape adapters are really useful, hardly a point upgrading your deck if you're ipoding. Your sound wont get 'much' better unless you change the speakers anyways.

Well i hate to say this guys, but now most of our 75's/milanos are now 20 years old, i would suspect the speakers are reaching life end anyway
Well the last 3 sets of door speakers ive seen recently were...
(foam between paper diaphagm and metal rim rotted away)

Agreed, I was getting at the idea that if you just want your music, then getting the adapter is the easiest way.
If you want quality, or good sound, then you'll have to upgrade!

Do you know if any other Sony decks can just slide in? My car is red so preferabily a red sony xplod w/auxilary input would do nicely. But I don't mind settling for blue.
CDXGT460U is what i have my eye on, it doesn't have iPod control however.
They seem to be on the same product line, would this slide straight into a 75 slot? Also I think it's alot cheaper so.

I'd like to know the answer to this one too. I too replaced the cable, antenna and radio and still get horrible reception. Anyone?

hi all. i too hate to say this but the reception on mine is perfect. new electric antenna. i think down here the originals were pioneer units so maybe the wiring is different. i did have the sony mp3 in there, but the lighting was crap. now i have another pioneer. its great with big writing to help with the low location and i personally think the blue illumination is good. of course others disagree...haha. i put the pioneer in last week. no yellow wire with the said connector. but my main power cable is yellow. my new head unit had a similar connector for an amp with a yellow wire. is it possible it was modified?
now for my bad news. i gotta rip the dash off to get to the fan. it is vibrating and hitting something and sending out an interesting burning smell.... bent shaft i think...

The radio slot is a standard DIN slot, so most head units will fit. The big issue is the depth - there isn't a lot of room back there. The Pioneer I have in mine is just the right depth - anything more wouldn't fit.
I'm afraid I do not have measurements handy so I can't help there...
FWIW, the aforementinoed CDX-GT410UI is switchable between red/green illumination. The 610 lights up red & blue. Both play CDs with MP3s, have an 1/8" input jack, and a USB slot (for flash drives, etc) - I find the USB slot incredibly convenient.

yes that sony fits, similar to what i have. Standard DIN slot and depth, bolts up to the standard radio bracket as well. You will also want 6x4" front and 5-1/4" rear speakers for future reference, and an amp and sub for the full effect.
