cv joint removal

once you have removed the half shaft, clean the grease out and on the end of the shaft is a clip. remove the clip, be careful not to let it sproing itself across the room never to be found again. the cv joint will slide off the end of the shaft.

You must remove the end metal cover to get to the spring clip. Grind a blunt end on a small chisel or use a blade screwdriver and tap it off with a hammer.

Buy the manual or download it (for free) from Craig's site. You need a press (at least I did for all the ones I have done).

I just did mine and got lucky, I did not need a press. After removing the circlip I tapped the CV with a brass hammer and they slid off the axle shaft.
The boots now available are really too small and it takes alot of strength and patience to get them to fit!
At least they wont leak.

Yeah you may or may not need a press. There should be a really strong conical spring washer between a lip on the axle and the CV centre. You can get the clip out without compressing the washer, but it will be impossible to get it back in. When mine were apart, half had the washer half didn't.
