i didn't say that it cann't be done.... just a lot of hassles you don't get with a 164 24v engine.

Sorry, i wasn't saying you were just for illistration saying it was feasable, but as you say, plenty of work and not for the faint hearted...
but lets face it, the 164 motor is neither cheap or easy to install either

seeing you live in sydney, you should know about interspec...? try dropping a line to bulli, he knows the owner of the car. bulli does alot of stuff for alfas, so he's got all the hook ups with owners and so on. i think it was bulli@interspec.com.au or you could just try his website and contact him through that interspec.com.au

The 3.2 giuliettaevo is talking about is the new (GM block) V6 introduced since 2005 in the 159, and Brera. The 3.2 GTA from the 147 is still basically the 164 24v heads on the original Busso designed block methinks.
That intake pictured earlier is the best package I've ever seen - simply marvelous work and innovation! On the technical side though, that's a LOT of plenum volume. Since the runners are spliced, I suppose you could open them sequentially to maintain low rpm vacuum (and torque). One way is to use a split runner design, one short, one long, for each cylinder - Like Yamaha did on the Ford SHO. This provides the best of both worlds.

I think you can use your 75 v6 flywheel on the 3.2 gta engine.
The front crank cover from a 164 24V (or 12V ) can be used, some grinding to make it fit and get the 3.2 to work with a 164 24V MMS or other aftermarket possibilities.

My bad i thought we were talking about the earlier 3.2 (147 & 156 type)
I knew Alfa were using a GM motor but was lead to believe it was the diesels
Don't like the intake system on SHO! My GM (Vauxhall Vectra) 2.5 V6 employs a design very much like it, great for torque, and low down grunt, but it sure does NOT like to rev to the red line

I have 3 off different engines! And they are all different
Some will grind, some won't, some need extensive drilling and tapping too! And thats if you are using a crank trigger (mounts were moved)
(iam not flaming, just for info purposes)

I'm using the front cover of an early (1990) 164 12V for my 24V.
BTW Spence, will this be a stock 24V or with some added goodies engine wise?

you bin the later plastic impeller type pump in favour of the older metal type (its proven more reliable, its a common mod done by several GTA owners) easy! then the gtv/milano stat housing complete fits straight on!
BTW i didn't read whole article, so i don't know what else there is
