Clutch Pedal - Odd
Hey everyone,
Just asking about my clutch pedal. Recently it has become a bit weird, you can move the pedal almost to the floor with no effect, and then about 8cm from the floor, the clutch pedal has an actual effect, making my clutch pedal very small to use. It also gets stuck before trying to come back up past the 'dead area'. My mechanic re-adjusted my clutch pedal and re-bled the clutch cylinder, and that worked for about 4 days, and now its gone back to how it was.
There's no gear crunching, but I have a large feeling its not being depressed completely (due to the floor being in the way), but then again I dont know that much.
I hope driving it around like this doesnt have any negative effects.
TIA.

Original rubber lines? maybe you have a split line, or a loose fitting. Do you have any fluid leaks? If not, it could be the clutch master or slave cylinder faulty.

No fluid leaks, the master and slave are both brand new.
I doubt they are original rubber lines, but one may be loose. Its going back to mechanic next monday (9th). So I guess I'll find out then for sure
Thanks for the suggestion.

I would check the clutch pivot ball ASAP. Sometimes instead of breaking they start to unscrew themselves. When they get to a certain point they rip out of the remaining threads creating a real problem to fix.

I place my bet on the pivot ball.
If it was an Alfetta I'd place a bet on a busted clutch cover.
Who's right??

Just to clarify my position. I am not saying it's more likely to be the pivot ball, I am saying check the pivot ball ASAP because it COULD be the pivot ball and if it is you need to fix it before damage to the clutch housing occurs. The other possibilities are not as time critical.

Greg - I need to check my pivot ball as well - can you remove/lubricate it without taking the transaxle apart?
thanks

Could someone post some photos of the clutch housing were these problems are? I have a similar problem on my GTV/4 and have a bad feeling about it.
Thanks

Gunmetal,
If you find a problem with yours, you're quite welcome to one of the 4 i have taking up valuable workshop space. 2 of them even have complete trannys attached. All you have to do is bring a trailer & a strong friend...

Just to verify what it was, it was something around the MC sucking in air. Definite answer will come by friday.

Just so you all know, it was the hose coming from the master was being pushed against the water bottle and making an air pocket. Couldnt even see it happening just from looking at it :S

From my experience it is the pivot ball. However, in either case it is a pain in the a$$ to do either job yourself. If it is the pivot ball when you ge it replaced make sure the dust boot is in place and you cover that little guy with grease.
my 2 cents
