Rear motor mount
My son pulled the prop shaft out of the Milano tonight in order to replace the rubber flex discs/donuts. Looks like the reason the front disc failed was because the rear motor mount is shot.
I've called around and no one seems to have any of the rear mounts. Does anyone have a suggestion or a lead on a replacement.

rear guibo's
John Norman at Alfa parts in berkley, Ca has the rear donuts that he is having made special. Hopefully he still has some. Last time I spoke with him on getting other items he made it sound like he has them.

Thanks cchan,
I hope I'm understanding you right but we have all three of the replacement donuts/flex joints. We need the third/rear motor mount which is at the back of the bell housing.
but I'll try Alfa Parts for the engine mount tommorrow anyway.
I was looking thru some pictures of mounts and it seems like the Alfetta mount is very simmiliar. Does anyone know if it can be made to fit the Milano?

i'll be placing a jack stand under my engine and filling the rear mount with silicone 'till it sets up. i'll let everyone know how that genius idea works out. think i'll do the same for the tranny mount.

You are correct. There is a front donut, middle one, and rear. I replaced all 3 along with the center bearing when I did my restoration. I did not have to do this but I did not want to deal with it later. The front one breaks more than the others in my experience. John should have all 3 along with the center bearing.

Chuck,
The post is about _engine_ mounts, not drive shaft couplings.
Aldo,
I had luck with Bruce's Parts Bin in NJ some time ago when nobody else had the rear engine (bellhousing) mount. Their contact should be in the supplier thread. If not let me know, and I'll dig it up.

Thanks Jes, I found the # and I'll give them a call tomorrow.
My Son's getting a bit frustrated, since he started using the Milano he's invested tons of time (and my money ) into getting her back into great shape. Not being able to find the needed parts to repair her doesn't help.

Rear Engine Mount NLA, quick fix
Joe at Centerline gave me this hint. It works OK.
Just fill the open space with something, I used some hose pieces, and then silicone them in.
It makes a slightly rougher ride since the engine is not as insulated from the body. But I hardly notice it.

If you're going to pack it, keep it as soft as possible or suffer the noise. I know because I've been there, but perhaps a four cylinder vibrates more than a V6.

they do say the more cylinders you have, the smoother it becomes?
discounting v8 of course

it needs to be able to move up and down. that is why it is a thong. the motor rotate a lot as it heates up.
the exhaust pipe gets a lot longer as it heats up and must be able to rotate the motor or somthing else will give. like the cast header will crack.. when cold the front of the motor is low and as it heats the front will rise.

Well after a bunch of calls to a lot of suppliers it looks like the rear motor mount is NLA!!! (This is probably not news to most of you).
I guess the rubber bits and silicon is the only option.
If anyone has both the Alfetta and Milano mounts handy I would love to know what the differences are. I'm still wondering if the Alfetta mount can be machined to fit?

WTH? so if the engine overheats will it dent the hood? is this a phenomonom specific to Alfas? I've never heard of such a thing in my over 20 years as a mechanic. it stands to reason that there is more movement of the entire drivetrain when taking off in 1st gear than from heat expansion.
