Kingsborne Plug Wires...

Don't know if anyone is interested, but a vendor I've been working with for probably ten years has a longstanding relationship with Kingsborne. I've been buying those wires for my Saabs since around 2000, and they've never let me down.

Anyway, I'm ordering a set for the Milano - they're $125+shipping for the 8mm wires from Import Parts Specialists (Import Parts Specialists, Inc.). Seems like a pretty good price, and IPS is a pleasure to work with. You can't order them from their website, you have to email...

I don't know if this is a good price or a bad price, but it's what I found.

Mine should be here on 3 Dec

I ordered mine straight from Kingsborne ($115 shipment included)
They should arrive on 3Dec
Compared to IAP prices they are a steal

I'll keep you updated once I've installed them

Kingsbourne makes a great wire set with OE connectors. I have them on my 164S and have a set for my GTV6 when needed. I have been using Bosch on my 164L and they are fine also. I get mine direct from the factory north of San Diego in Encinitas.

What do you mean "the factory look?" The wires go in the same places and do the same things...? Mine happen to be red, but they're available in black (and blue, IIRC), too.

Thumbs down Bad set AGAIN from Kingsborne

Just received a replacement set from Kingsborne.
The first set was missing the rubber boots.

This set has the rubber boots and is complete.
BUT ...
Wire Number 1, 2 and 3 are about an inch too short.
Wire Number 6 is about 1/2 inch too short (this wire kinda fits but there is a lot of stress on it)
The boot for the distributor does not fit.

So far NOT impressed with their so called custom made product.

Crap... now you have me worried. I'll check mine out tonight. I was hoping to install them with a bunch of other tuneup parts, but if they're not right I'd like the new ones en route sooner rather than later.

FWIW, the set on my Saab and my XR4Ti both fit perfectly...

Installed mine, along with a new cap & rotor - new plugs tomorrow...

Anyway, all the wires fit well. I would like another 1/2" on the passenger side bank of cylinders, but the wires fit with no stress at all cylinders. The boot for the coil is poorly sized, but after warming it up a bit and adjusting the length of the exposed wire (to the coil) it fit cleanly. Really, it needs to be a good 1/4" bigger in diameter and 1/2" longer in length to match the factory. My wires do not have the "disc" on the wires at the distributor end to seal with the hood on the distributor. Not sure if they're supposed to, but I don't care much, either.

Overall, I'm happy with the money spent. I wasn't interested in paying $200 for the genuine parts, and didn't have any Magnecor wires (my first choice) to compare with. Had I, I might have sprung for the Magnecors since the price difference isn't huge, but I have no real complaints about fit or finish.

Now I just need to put in some new plugs and acquire something to hold the wires in place - the factory clips are too small for the big manly wires.
