Noise in the back?

After the car has been turned off for anywhere from 5-30 minutes after driving around, I start it up and there is some strange noise in the back. I can't place what it sounds like, but almost like liquid trying to get through all pipes (?)
I've noticed it for the past couple of months, but thought nothing of it. But now, I don't know.
Any theories? Or solutions?
Thanks!

Probably the fuel pump. Mine sounds like a jet flying over sometimes.

If fuel pump...

If it is the fuel pump as you say, should I be worried at all by it? Should I replace it, and if so, do you know the cost?
Thanks.

I've had 2 V6's and they both made (make) the same noise, a bit like water boiling...

If it's that, it's normal, don't know what it is though. Probably the fuel pump

All of my Milano's do this. I'm pretty sure it is excess fuel being pumped back to the tank from the injector rail. There is not a check valve on this part of the system that I am aware of. When the car is shut down the line probably drains out. The pressure side is maintanined by the check valve in the pump. What you are actually hearing (I think) is the air being expelled from the fuel return line.

They all do that (as far as I know) don't worry about it.

That noise has been driving me nuts for years. Right, sounds like fluid flowing and a low flying jet under the car.
Doesn't happen often.
Usually at a cold start up, but can't predict when.

Let's face it. It sounds like a water bong.

This is fuel returning to the tank. Ignore it. My GTV6 did the same thing. Unless you see fire or smell smoke, ignore it.

I knew there was a reason I read this

Thank you for answering a question many of us were afraid to ask. As long as it started and ran, I wasn't going to worry about it. But now I know it's not a jetliner behind me.
