Alfa 90 - unleaded 1986

Greetings from Sydney, Australia.

I have a 1986 unleaded 90 with brake problems. There is little or no feel in the pedal and it just does not stop well. Day to day driving and the brakes are okay, but in an emergency, I'm gone.

I have had the brake booster reconditioned, new master cylinder. I'm currently running a soft compound Bendix pads. (improves the feel). The brake centre advised me that the mercury points (vacuum) from the plenum chamber is only 14 and should be at least 20. They think it could be inlet valve timing. All the vacuum hoses seem okay and so is the valve that is fitted to the plenum chamber and via a hose to the booster.

Any ideas out there in Alfa ciber space. I appreciate any help.
Thanks and regards, Anthony Golding -Forza Alfa.
