It was a great weekend. Thanks to Nizam for getting us the Garage. It was awesome.

Many Milanos showed up, even JungleJustice from Washington state!

The list of Milanos:
1. Larry's Milano 24V
2. Chip's Milano 24V
3. Nizam's 75 QV
4. April's Milano Verde
5. Potenziato's Milano Verde
6. Jungle Justice's Milano Verde
7. Paul Blankenship's Milano Gold
8. The Kartsonas Milano Verde
9. Jess's Milano Verde
10. My Milano Gold
11. And another black Milano Gold

My car's engine was running fine. But a couple of hiccups.

1. Brake caliper bleeder insert fractured. Lucky I had a plug.
2. Flat spotted my victoracers!!! (a very usable one too )
3. Borrowed Nizam's Hoosiers for the timed event. But the hoosiers were a little on the old side I guess. I put it on the rear and had too much oversteer. Drama for me, but spectators said they had fun watching the rear end slide on turns 5 and 11. . Thanks to Nizam for lending me the wheels, if not it would have been street tires for me, and that would have meant >1:58 for sure.

I was lucky enough to get a 1:53.9, a little slower than last year's time, but I think my driving improved a little.

And finally my downpipe on the driver's side bank broke off...... on the cooldown lap. So car became really loud.

I have some photos, I'll try posting it tonight.

Thumbs up

wow! I didn't realize john and louis are both alfaBB members! Glad to see you all in person!

What really impressed me was the Milano turn out.

I remember when I first started time trialing with AROSC, we had the only Milanos on the track! (We as with Me, Nizam, and then Zamani, and maybe one or two other at most). This time with a squadron of Milanos, the milanos are finally seeing the podium frequently

I haven't had chance to work on the photos we've got, I'll post them asap after I get them organized, croped, and exported to web resolution

All in all, a great weekend, weather was helping too, but like Nizam sez, the timed run got a little hot and we had to adjust our driving style to it. I think everybody had some techinical issues with their cars, Larry had a cracked spoke on his SSR type-C (?), Peter K seem to have some ignition issues, Nizam was "changing oil", Zamani had some scary and exciting events with brake bleeding nipple and testing brakes with NSX. Chip with his new found 24v power, was fighting with suspention of his new race car. Dimitri made a mistake and deformed Chris' grey verde, luckily, frame was not damaged, after some punding and prying, the car was back in action, and still finished respecfully with Dimitri in 2nd place.

I over estimated the Ferodo Premium brake pads in the rear and they were all gone by Sunday morning session. (They were put in right before January's Willow Springs! ) Between deepening scratches on rear brake rotor and extended braking distance, I entered turn 2 too fast, big sideways, over corrected, corrected, backdown to 2nd gear and out of turn 2 w/o putting wheels of the track, at same time, messing up with ABS. I ran the TT w/o ABS... which was scary for someone like me who relied on ABS all these years alone!

And yes, the dedications! Chip and Shannon drove 9 hrs from san diego and faught thru the traffic to join us at Laguna Seca, and John all the way from the state of Washington! WOW! hats off for their dedications!

now, where's that catalog that I need to order some more brake pads...

What do you all using for rear pads? R4S? I'd like something okey for street use, takes beating on the track twice an year...

Oh What a weekend!

Jess

Still some issues with certain drivers not letting others go by after many (read more than 3 laps) of the blue flag being waved and at them. But the majority of AROSC participants are very good at letting cars by, which is cool.

Anyway in the driver's meeting these points are always emphasized by the directors, it's up to the drivers to heed the advice or otherwise.

Blue Giulia ti

Not quite a super.
Actually a nearly bone stock (except for the suspension) Giulia Ti with a 1600, single solex and street cams. Drive it to the tracks, beat the heck out of it (and myself) for two days and drive it home.
Alfa competition classification is H (1 point out of I).

Thanks for noticing.

See ya at Buttonwillow end of May

What a great weekend! Laguna is really an awesome track. My Monster-Milano project car made the 1400 mile round trip and two days of on-track abuse without a single hitch. Well, I did have to change out a flakey oil pressure sender... but that's not unusual.

I had been hoping to catch up to Nizam's times, and I got very close in the last practice session (turned a low 1:57 according to my hotlap timer), but by the time the official timed laps came around my tires were cooked and the car was understeering everywhere. In the end I managed only a 2:00.xx on my dead street tires. A bit disappointing, but I'm still just happy to have the bugs worked out of this car and that it made it the whole weekend without a hitch. Next time hopefully with my Veloce bumpers, moving the battery to the back, and slightly different alignment settings I can get some of the understeer out of the car. It was frustrating trying to catch Nizam & Zamani with thier race tires, so by the next event I'll make sure to have a second set of wheels with race tires.

Here is a group shot we took in the pits on Saturday afternoon.
Starting on the first row on the left we have: Shannon (AlfaGirl) holding the Alfa flag, Louis (Potenziato) with his red Verde, Larry & Tammy with thier 24v Milano, April (VerdeGrrl) with her gray Verde, John (junglejustice) with his black Verde. Second row from left: Chip (AlfaRacer75) with 24v FrankenMilano, Jess with his gray Verde, Nizam with his blue 75, *Forgot this gentlemans name!* with the crunched Verde, and Zamani (75evo) with his Autronic Milano.

You all have sunroofs??
Thats a good 30Kg right there, get rid of it...

Race tires are a must I think, street tires are really not economical IMHO.

Milanos in the corkscrew:

Jess in car #33, my hideously ugly #666 car, and 75evo #75.

Now for the carnage!!

Larry managed to break one of his forged SSR wheels, Zamani (75evo) flatspotted a Kumho VictoRacer, Nizam corded his old set of Hoosiers, and the Milano that Dimitri piloted into the tire wall.

No sunroof here!

I usually run race tires, but I just didn't have the funds before the event this time, so I ran my almost dead street tires (Falken Azenis).
