Which valve shims for 8-valve twinspark?

I need to adjust valve clearance on a 2.0 twinspark engine from the 75/Milano. Centerline Alfa (www.centerlinealfa.com) offers two shim styles: one for "750 or TS", and another for everything else.

Do I need the 750 shims for my engine??

Thanks for any guidance.

Yes. That's assuming you're not willing to do a 1/2 a$$ job of it.

Thanks, Bruce...

I'll get the 750 shims -- I always try for at least 2/3 a$$

Make sure to measure the shims and not assume they are the correct size. Last time I ordered shims from there half of them were way off.

Next question --

How can I tell if my current shims are the correct '750' shims? If they aren't, I want to order a full set of the correct type. Got a picture of the two types to compare??

The shims in my engine are 11.4 mm in diameter and have two rings machined around their circumference. Total height is 5 mm.

I had some trouble finding official Alfa valve shimes in 8mm, but did find these alternates:

- Older Ducati 'bevel drive' motorcycles use 8mm valve adjuster caps - http://www.ducati-gowanloch.com/ in Australia has a good selection and will ship anywhere.

- Classic Lotus twincam engines used 9/32" and 5/16" cup-type valve shims.
In the USA, http://www.davebean.com/ was willing to caliper thier 5/16" shim selection to find shims that were a few thousandths large to fit 8mm shafts. Their selection is spotty, but they are nice people with which to deal. I got mine from them.
