Exhausting

Are there supposed to be gaskets between the exhaust manifolds and the down pipes to the catalytic converter?
In one manual that I looked at, it mentions gastets. Yet, in at least one catalog, there is no listing. And there were none when I disconnected the down pipes.
Thanks in advance.

(assuming this is a US-spec Milano with a V6 engine)

Unless you have modified your stock exhaust manifolds, no, there are no gaskets on the stock exhaust manifold <-> downpipe/cat connection.

If you have a Shankle, CSC or SZ exhaust setup, you WILL have a gasket in between the two pieces. None of those three have interchangeable gaskets (all have different designs).

Milano/GTV6 exhaust gaskets

Stock 12v V6 engines in Milanos and the GTV6 do not have gasket between ball on end of down pipes to cat and exhaust manifold lower flange 60522640 socket end. It is a ball to socket metal to metal fit.

However, there is a AR 60522123 (IAP 64106) gasket between these two flanges and exhaust manifolds themselves. Flanges are 60522640 and are used if cars have stock cat.

The two flanges are not used if euro style down pipes are used, just the two 60522123 (IAP64106) gaskets are used then.

FYI the 6 copper gaskets between engine heads and manifolds are 60506636 (IAP 18751).
