Racetrack wheels

Hey guys,

Just looking for advice for a track-only set of 16" wheels. I am planning to buy some Performance Superlite wheels here in Australia (not very nice looking wheels but they are light and cheap).

They can come in a manner of sizes, 16x7, 16x8, 16x10 weighing from 7-9kg with varying offsets.

What would be ideal for a 24v 3L making 200hp at the wheels (soon to be making a little more)?

Would it be wise to go wider track at the rear? Has anyone made modifications to allow for wider wheels on a 75 without using wider bodywork?

I'm not ruling out wider guards, but that will be down the line. I really need a decent set of tyres for track work as they are whats holding me back.

Please, opinions, comments etc!

Thanks for any advice!

Speedlites on a 75?

Someone needs to do a photoshop I think, I just can't imagine them.

Mef have you tried contacting the Jap brands and seeing whether there's anything available that's suitable for the Alfa? I've always considered but never bothered to try *shrugs*

Remember that Superlites come in a massive range. Not just the 'classic' style. but there are some other good ones.
I'd go these for the 75.

Also here are some nice rims that resemble classic superlites

Hello.
Are Braids. A very light but strong 3 parts wheel.
They are tradicionally used in Spain for competition (rally, racing and raid) from 1980.
http://www.braid.es/

I have fitted a 6,5 x 15 set in my v6 3000.
They were in my car when I bought, (luck) because the big problem about this wheel is the price. I only had refurbished them.

Sidenote: looks like they went to outboard rear brakes on that car a long time ago

Yes, spanish touring championship was at the time for cars with gr.a chassis (brakes, weight, suspension) and gr.n (production) engine.
You can know more about the cars here:

I need a 16" wheel though, light and available in Australia.

I've tried getting some TD's to no avail, chasing dead links and the companies that are supposed to be suppliers dont respond to anything, nor have any information about TD's on their site.

I just want to be on semi slicks on a track-only set of wheels, I'm losing points by not having enough grip

Would it be wise running wider tyres at the rear or not?

You'll get more understeer I'm quite sure. Try neg camber at the front.
Try speedline wheels, they have a distributer in Melbourne. Awesome wheels but will be about $600 each for UBer light magnesiums I think. They look so cool too.

Bernard - no bigger tires in the rear for the 75. They are well balanced/neutral with same size tires all around. Unless you have a radical suspension, putting vast amounts of rubber in the rear will only make the car understeer.

Thanks for the advice, anyone ever tried 16x8 all round? What offset would anyone recommend for this size?

What about Compomotives? Light, and attractive but probably ridiculously priced. Stuckey Tires here in Melbourne are the Aus distributors. Might be worth an email or phonecall.

I emailed Stuckey, ~$540ea, might be worth it depending on the weight...

I can get 16x7.5 or 16x8, I am running 16x7.5 now without rubbing, should I go to the 16x8's for track only wheels?

Still wanting to find semi slicks in 16" with a 40 profile.
