Best Bang For The Buck Handeling Modification!

WOW! Wow-wow-WOW!

Moved the battery to the rear and MAN! What a difference!?

It was amazing because I had just handed the car over to Group 2 to to do a number of things for me (including installing my new plug wires - THANKS CHIP!) Any way, I went and test-drove the car - and actually forgot that one of the things being done was the battery move...

I drove the car and kept saying tomyself: "...man, something is different..." The thing just felt lighter, smoother, crisper. That mild understeer was GREATLY IMPROVED and it took me a while to realize that it was the 80-or-so-pound SHIFT from the left-front to the right- rear that did it!

Amazing.

I'll post some digi. pics soon, because they did a nice custom install. The battery is insede a nice black plastic box, well mounted, the cables are nicely routed along (and in some places-inside) the subframe and the cable holes were well-sealed and rubberized.

I knew that somebody would bite...

I knew that somebody would bite...

I just didn't know that it was going to be YOU Nizam!

The operative word was SHIFT. Remove 30-whatever at one end and add 30-whatever at the other end and what you have is a 70 whatever pound shift...

What does a big battery weigh these days; 30 to 40 ya? I had a pretty big battery in there (cranking amps and extra lead plates and whatever-kakka for the NW winters...)

Wheel put it back on the scales and give you guys an exacto numuro.

BTW Nizam, I LOVE those tires with my setup! At first, you're right, they were a harsh ride... (Talking S-03 s now...) Then I experimented with some lower pres. and viola! Awesome.

Thanks for being honest about the ride and overly conservative in your estimation of the remaining-tread life too. rare these days.

OK Chip, I'll "plug" you too...

The "Plug" wires were EXACTlY the colour that you promised....
Just kidding, they made a good bit of difference, because mine were so bad.

(It helped that I replaced the rotor that looked like, well, I wouldn't even know how to describe it... Is it normal for these things to eat the distributor rotor and cap?

I'll post a pic, it deserves to go on the hall of shame. (Rotor worn to a knub, brittle, con ductor wire burned down-recessed inside the red "backalite"??? material...

Publio answer...

Publio,
I'll post pictures; It was Group 2 in Seattle who did it for me.
206.378.0900

In short, we put in a cut-off key right there where the battery used to be and then just ran the cables back down along the sub-frame...

The guys at Group 2 are great! Joe English actually ended up buying my old Milano to fix up for his daughter.

All of them are super nice. Just plain old good guys you can trust.
