Question Limited Slip GearBox oil, what to use?

Hi Everyone,

Ive got an Alfa 75 Limited slip diff Gearbox in my gtv6 and i recently shattered a brake disc that got caught in the calliper and ripped the calliper off the gearbox taking a large portion of the Diff side plate with it , Lucky we Alfa owners must have 1 car for spares for every car we have on the road , so that was no biggie, HOWEVER!! I have NO IDEA what oil to use in a Limited slip diff Gearbox ,

Any suggestions?

I have in Shell Spirax Gear Oil gl5 that IAP sells

IAP quote
"If you look in your 1969-on Alfa Romeo owner's manual, chances are it calls for 80W/90HD Shell Spirax Extreme Pressure gear oil for the transmission, rear axle and steering gearbox. Spirax is a non-synthetic GL-5 oil. (Most GL-5 oils contain friction modifiers that are said by many experts to shorten Alfa synchromesh life.)
Note: not suitable for Fiats or earlier Alfas."

Red Line 75W90NS Differential Oil seems to be good also. The NS seems to be key here
do a search and there is a lot of threads on this.

I would recommend the Redline NS over any other fluid. Ever see gear oil boil because of heat? Redline is the only gear oil than can handle high temps and not phase it. Helps the LSD too. I love the Spirax but only use it on street only cars.

Make sure if you use Spirax, use the Spirax LS or if you use "IAP" Spirax HD add a limited slip additive...

kewl, well thats all sorted thanks to u all good replies, now all i need is a 75 diff housing plate as i chewed the last one,

and ive seen several threads saying u can mix the plates from a gtv box to a 75 box... u cant the shaft is smaller in the GTV box and the Bearings dont fit the plate, u can swap the whole diff out but if u want to keep the 75 diff u need the 75 housing, a quick fix that turned out to be a dud

You want to use the Redline 75W 90NS and nothing else, youre transmission feels like new again with no grinding or stiffening, you will also see a big difference in shifting if you live in a colder climat.
