rod oil holes in V6

Gentle folk,

Is the rod oil hole the only difference between rods for the left 4/5/6 cylinders and the 1/2/3 cylinders on the right? The offset looks to be the same size, so a simple 180 degree flip about the rod axis would fit a left rod into a right cylinder. But that leaves the oil hole facing the "wrong" direction. Later blocks with oil squirters might make this issue moot. What think you?

I put a longer description and question in the Engine Rebuilding forum, and I'm somewhat eager to get technical answers and rationales. Thanks. (164S engine came to me with oil squirters, 2 right rods, and 4 left rods. One left rod was flipped and installed into a right side slot (probably the #3 rod). #5 rod was nominal and was the one suffering a spun bearing. No other issues were apparent.)
