Alfa won't let go of the key!

I guess she's grown attached, but she won't let go of the key....any ideas?

I see I need to elabourate: The ignition key will not come out of the ignition. The car starts fine and runs great, but the key is lodged into the ignition. So the car is RIPE for stealing in case any of you had a notion.

Had that happen before...The ignition switch had gone bad. I ended up getting the key and changing out the bad switch.

It its never been done before, be careful cutting a notch in the bolt holding the old switch in (it is rounded off for security...). You'll understand when you get the new one. I ended up not breaking off the head on the new bolt...figure someone removing my ignition would be the least of my problems if someone broke into the car....

If Alfa did what most manufacturers done you only have to turn the key to ACC and press in a tab to remove the whole ignition lock.

You naturally have to remove the covers first...
