Aftermarket (Steering) Wheels
Can someone explain the concept/whole installation of an aftermarket steering wheel along with what a hub is and what you do about the horn and more importantly - where i can get a cool aftermarket steering wheel.

The hub is what adapts the aftermarket wheel to fit your car. Most aftermarket steering wheels include a horn button.
Installation is pretty easy. Pop off the center/horn part of the stock wheel, remove the large nut, and use a steering wheel puller to yank it off. Then you just slide the hub on there, tighten down the nut, and bolt the new wheel to the hub.
I got my Milano Momo hub on ebay, it's made by OMP I think. Momo might make them too...

Is there a special Alfa tool that must be used?
Or a specific type of puller?

I use a universal type steering wheel puller with two custom 6mm bolts for 105/115 steering wheels. Can post a pic if you'd like.

Jim,
Please post a picture of your "custom" puller. I may fabricate one of my own.
Thanks.

I managed to use a standard 3 arm puller to remove my old stock wheel. Wasn't very easy though...

Ok recap.
Buy wheel/hub
pop center part off
remove large nut
use steering wheel puller to do what???
also does the new wheel with horn button just magically work? sensors? or are wires involved?

The steering wheel is a press fit onto the shaft... that's why you need a puller.
To make the horn work you just attach the existing wires to the new horn button.

You shouldn't need a wire crimper for this job...
Different wheel manufacturers have different bolt patterns on the wheel, so you should get a hub from the makers of the wheel you want.

Here's a standard, off the shelf steering wheel puller with two not-so-standard bolts for pulling Alfa steering wheels. The shorter one is an 8 x 1.25 x 75mm bolt that's been ground down and rethreaded to 6 x 1.0mm for the first 12mm or so. The longer one is a 7/16" x 4" stud with a 6 x 1.0 x 25mm headless bolt welded to end. You will need two of either style to pull the wheel. The two 'bolts' screw into two threaded holes in the steering wheel hub while the swiveling end of the large puller bolt 'pushes' on the steering shaft.

or you can use a large hammer/sledgehammer. one person sitting in the driverseat and pulling the steeringwhhel and another hitting the axle. Usually pops the wheel right off.
