Knocking on AFM

Hi Guys,

my Milano is getting a littlebit crazy. At first the double relay for the gas pump and now I have to knock on the AFM to get the engine started. It seems like that the moving part of the AFM is getting stuck if the car sits over night or it is cool outside. If the engine is still warm I don't have to do that. At the weekend I have planed to clean it and try to open it. Is there anything that I have to be aware of?

Thanks

Axel

I clean out my AFM whenever I change the oil. I just use some carb/choke cleaner spray and blast out any gum and deposits that build up in there. When I did it the first time, it was very dirty. Since then it's been fairly clean when I check it.

I have dismantled the whole AFM on Saturday. I also removed the connector from the housing because the contacts between the ceramic board and the connector itself were looking corroded and I cleaned them mechanically and with contact cleaner. I also tuned the spring for the AFM door a littlebit and it is running like a bunny :-) It was not that difficult to open the housing so I would like to say this a work that you can do, even if you are not a perfect mechanic :-)

Regards

Axel
