Car idling at 3,000!

I was changing my thermostat and bleeding today, and went to hit the throttle and brought it up to 3k. However, it never went back down. I changed the throttle position switch - no help. (i also sheared the bolts off that hold it in...)

I checked the aux air valve - fine. Vacuum hoses - fine. Throttle doesn't seem stuck either. I'll start it and it'll go to 2,000 for about .5 seconds, and then move on to 3,000 where it stays.

HELP

Sounds like you got a big air leak or stuck throttle butterfly return.

Those two should be touching? But is that enough gap to warrant a 3,000 rpm idle?

Yes, they should touch at idle! Without load the engine needs not a lot of air to hold 3000 rpm!

Clean the throttlebody and ensure that the butterfly is shuts full at idle.
