To get the new digital dash to display all parameters (RPM, speed, coolant temp, engine oil temp, engine oil pressure, fuel pressure, fuel level, transmission oil temp) I need to characterize my senders. To save cost I'm re-using as many of my existing senders (original stock Alfa senders and Autometer aftermarket senders) as possible. Find below pics of measured data:
1. Alfa LJet coolant temp sender (for Ljet, not gauge. Unfortunately, the milano temp sender for the gauge I had laying around was not working properly).
2. Alfa 164 coolant temp sender for gauge (fits same port as milano sender, may be identical).
3. FuelSafe fuel level sender.
4. Autometer 2258 temperature sender.

The Race-Technology DL1 (datalogger) and DASH2 have plenty of analog voltage inputs that are quantized to 16 bits. Since they are voltage inputs, the variable impedance of the senders needs to be converted to a variable voltage. That is typically done with a pull-up resistor (in this case a 1 kOhm resistor), and I'll need to build a little board with the necessary circuits. As you can see from the spreadsheets some sensors will be run at 12v and some at 5v.

This is great Jes, hopefully I'll be able to leech some of your hard work for my DL1 and Dash2

Your car is looking damn sweet too! Love those photo's!

Awesome Mod!!

Jes,

That's the GoTech Dash 2, right? Nice! Johnny told me to look at that one a few days ago before I made a decision on which gauges for an upgrade as well. But I thought that the D2 would look better in a dedicated race car such as yours.

I just find the stock Alfa gauges a little boring when you really get into modding the car. I ended up going with Auto Meter's Nexus line as I feel they look more "street". Let us know how you like the D2.

Ok. Guess I was mislead as GoTech sells it right off their site. Looks great lit up.

Roughly $2K for the dash and DL-1 data logger.

Race-Technology USA has a bundle deal on the DL1+DASH2 for $1600 - data logger and display (I think I have pics a page or two back from when I installed the DL1). Yes, unrelated to GoTech - I didn't even know GoTech sells Race-Technology stuff. The DL1 will allow you to display more parameters on the DASH2, which itself is limited to 4 (I think it is) analog inputs. The DL1 offers another 8. The primary objective (for me) of the DL1 is to log data that can help improve driving skills through post race analysis. I will put all my "gauge" input on DL1 so that the data is also logged (besides being displayed on the DASH2).

Pretty much everything on Roxanne is about function, and aesthetics usually take a back seat.

More spaghetti Nobody notice that the dash has been cut? Besides installing the DASH2 I'm trimming the stock dashboard and removing a ton of wiring (behind the dash board).

You're right, just saw that. That's actually a good deal. Do you think they will allow me to get the dash 2 at a good deal? Dash3 lite seems to still be in the works.

Yes, it replaces the stock instruments as well as my aftermarket fuel pressure gauge, fuel level gauge, engine oil temp gauge, transmission oil temp gauge, and voltmeter.

Probably not because the bundled units are paired, i.e. you can't split them up and use them with another unit...
