Race video

First 2.5 laps of the qualifying race for the Alfa Cup Race. Having just spun during the qualifying for the enduro I decided to take it easy in the beginning on semi cold tires and let others do the spinning and capitalize on spins and DNFs

<object width="425" height="350"> <param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/7rOnwQOob6U"> </param> <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/7rOnwQOob6U" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="350"> </embed> </object>

Roxanne was running 2:10s towards the end of the qualifying and did 2:09 during the timed runs of the time trail. Still plenty of faster times left in her.

PS It may take a few minutes before it becomes available on youtube.

It sounds great! Looks like so much fun. Are your pedals set up in a way so that you can "heel-toe" because the way in which mine are set up there is no way my right foot can be on the brake and accelerator at the same time.

I can do the 'heel-toe' on my stock pedals in my 88 verde, but you need to angle your foot just a bit. I've heard of many people bending the pedals a bit to allow for better heel-toeing
Sounds great, ran great too.
What was the little green car?

The spins wouldn't be so much of a problem if the track wasn't in the MIDDLE OF THE DESERT! Glad all the hard work paid off.

Surely the ABS gear weighs a fair bit. Will you plan to swap this? Compared to non ABS, there has to be at least 1/2 pound extra fluid in that master cyl reservoir The sensors at the wheels are unsprung weight too. Normally you wouldn't bother but you seem paranoid about weight savings and it all counts.

The accelerator is only about 5/16" rod so it's easy enought to bend. Doesn't need much bending either. Modelled mine on Dad's Mini which is perfect for heel and toeing.

Keep up the good work
Cheers, Scott

It looked good when you flew past the green car.

I think the reason I can't heel-toe in my 75 is because I need a new brake master cylinder, the brake pedal almost sits on the floor. Jes, did you adjust your pedals to allow for better heel-toeing?

Peugeot 504 is by far the best heel-toe car on the planet. Alfetta Sedan is not too bad either.

I got pretty good at it in dad's Fiat 500 (mostly because you have to heel-toe if you want to change smooth).

I find heel-toe in the 75 a breeze, much easier than in modern cars where the pedals do not sit flush, I fkn hate that.

Also, great video Jes, Love the cheapo build, makes me want to do the same thing. Now all I need is some money and to stop spending everything on my track/street 75.

GTV6 and Alfetta is much easier than the 75 for some reason.

Well thats what I am trying to say. I would if I could but when I step on the brake, even softly, there is to much travel before the brakes actually start to bite. Like I said I need a new brake master cylinder as the brake pedal will continue to drop if I hold my foot on it.

Seems that the video on youtube isn't properly synced with the audio. On entry to Riverside it sounded as if you downshifted to 3rd. That's a 4th gear, almost flat out turn and in a few other places the sound doesn't match the speed of the car.

Zamani,

I think my Sony video cam has an automatic recording level feature to avoid clipping. So, the "absolute" sound level is somewhat off. I use only 3, 4, and 5th gear.

Yes, Riverside is in 4th. I think the wind buffing coming down the back straight causes the camera to lower the recording level.

I didn't adjust the pedals - heel and toe works ok. Though, my daily driver Milano is actually better - doubt anyone ever adjusted pedals in either car. I may adjust (bend) the pedal in Roxanne a bit.

THANK YOU from all of us Walter Middy`s out there. This has been fun to see this all come together. What RPMs do you try to keep going around the track?

I try to shift around 5300-5500. In some infrequent occasions it'll see 6000. Redline on the 164S is 6300, I believe.
