Would this be to relieve pressure buildup in the coolant overflow?

Good Job Jes, you couldnt have asked for it to work out smoother than that! Now you have to take a good video on the track for all of us!

Congratulations Jess, You make it look so easy. I have great respect for your abilities. I have learned that swapping motors is not for the weak minded and restoring from the ground up really requires alot of patience, skill, and talent. Good luck at the track.

Can't wait to hear how she did at the track. I am sure you are having a ball and forgetting about all those sleepless nights! Best of luck and hope everything works out great,
Jon

She did PHENOMENALLY

The S-engine pulls really, really strong - I'm very pleased with it. The replacement of all oil seals, cigarette seals, O-rings, etc. paid off - it did not leak a drop of oil and is bone dry. Didn't have to top off coolant, but it did use some oil. It ran at good temps with good oil pressure Some said the best sounding car down the front straight during the enduro - perhaps I should mention that the comments were from our pit

For the track duties, she did great. It was entered in all events: Time trail, Alfa Cup race, and enduro. Probably too much driving. The enduro was a 2 hour race Saturday, very late afternoon - I think everyone was exhausted. It was my first enduro, and it is quite challenging - very different from regular (spint) races (over 30 min). Colin and I co-drove. I did the first 40 min, Colin did the next 50 min, and I finished the last 30 min. Roxanne finished the 2 hour without missing a beat I had deliberately put in a 15 gallon fuel cell to avoid refueling. But, due to lack of time I did not get time to hook up both cell pick-ups (with dual fuel pumps). That prooved a mistake as it would starve of fuel in high G turns after only using 5 gallons (approximately 40 mins). That meant we had to re-fuel twice. I have the 2nd fuel pump on the desk, and it is going in before next event. The starvation issue also meant I had to run the Sunday qualifying, race, and time trail with full tank (15 gallons)

Sunday was the race qualifying, the race itself and the timed runs for the time trail. The car ran great, except for reaching fuel starvation also during the Alfa Cup race. Regardless, the car performed very well, beyond expectations - it was a blast. I only checked tire pressure, rotated wheels, and refueled during the entire weekend. Oh, I did change batteries in my lap timer I was lucky enough to pick up a few trophies (3rd in race and 2nd in time trail - group C).

I do have the qualifying race on video, but ran out of tape for the race itself. Though, plenty of action on the qualifying race. I will try to edit some soon.

Oh, and I did go to have it corner-weighed, twice, but both times it was un-available Sorry, some other time.

Jes

Thumbs up Magic!

I'm so thrilled that it all turned out that well.

Congrats,

Ed.
(But what about that transmission whine? )

Ed,
The transmission ringing is practically gone. Occasionally, I can hear a very faint tendency to ringing, but miles from what it used to do. So, Andrew Garcia appears to have been correct in his diagnosis, and his suggested fix seems to have cured it.

Thanks guys.

I should also mention that the conversion to the mini Denso alternator worked without any issues. Apparently, the 30 Amp it generates is sufficient.
