Thanks Craig. Is that for the 3.0 Motronic (keep in mind that this is a stock 164S 200 HP engine)?

3 Bar would be the norm. but you would have to look up the injector specs.

Jes - you need 42 - 48psi. 42psi being the idle pressure.

Colour scheme

Just to semi-threadjack this, I think I have a paint candidate.

Roxanne should of course be painted in the racing colours of Denmark!
The scheme is Silver body, with the national flag as a lengthwise stripe on bonnet. Numbers are Red on White.

I think that would look brilliant on the 75

Good luck on the projekt!

-Ĝlholm.

Lets put the fuel pressure to rest. The pressure was measured without engine running and somewhat upstream of the rail - it is stock fuel pressure regulator and rail that was running just fine in the 164S, and to me the reading is not alarming in any way. At this point I don't see anything wrong with it.

Oelholm - a Dane I assume Down under just like my sister. Got any pics of cars in that paint scheme?

- Yep, born in Holstebro...

I have never seen any cars in this scheme no, I suspect that it was made so that if Denmark ever should enter any national competition (what are the odds of that?), they would have one. But it would be characterful, and also quite cheap, seeing that Roxanne is Silver already

Good luck on your project, it's a fun read.

Been there. Grew up north of Copenhagen.

I spent the latter part of the evening on wiring the Motronic. I basically use the 164S harness, but many changes to the harness are necessary to accommodate the Milano. Components are located in different places compared to the 164. The 164 firewall grommet fits nicely in the Milano firewall, and that became the initial fixing point fot the harness. The ECU plug then sits inside the cabin. I put the 164 coil where the Milano coil usually sits, and I put the Motronic relays where the Milano double L-jet relay usually sits. This means significant shortening of all wires to and from the two Motronic relays. In terms of length of wires, the two Motronic relays could have fitted ncely next to the coil, BUT, that would mean EXCESSIVE wiring. So, I'm in the process of shortening the wires to the 2 Motronic relays. The coil is all wired into the Milano native wiring, and so is the power for the 2 Motronic relays as well as the fuel pump power from the 2 Motronic relays. As obvious from the pics the disorder is increasing as the "skin" on the tails is taken off in order to shorten wires, relocate components, remove obsolete wires, etc. - one step back and hopefully 2 steps forward at some point

and some more. BTW, I have started to solder crimps as you can see in one of the pics above. Below some more pics of progress with the wiring...

A low of work

After spending all evening and night I'm done wiring the 164S Motronic harness into the Milano. A lot of work opening up tails, splitting, re-routing, shortening tails, extending tails, soldering, new plugs, ... The only minor thing left is to extend the crank angle sensor tail by 8" or so.

Making some progress, but no pictures right now We mounted the stock 164 air-box, put on the plenum to mock up for measuring and cutting the 180* aluminum bend (to be welded onto the plenum). I was hoping, yeah right, to be able to start the car this weekend. That requires an exhaust system, at least if you ask my neighbors To that end I was hoping to buy directly from Magnaflow since I'm local to them and have been to many of the AROSC Magnaflow open houses, but no go. Eventhough we are in a time crunch they would not do that and just referred to their dealers. Given typical inventory of stuff like that in retail stores I will probably just modify the stock system to fit, for this time around. It really sucks when Magnaflow is only 10 min away. I guess they have their rules...

Edit: Just for giggles I called up one of the places they referred me to. A truck and SUV place... They don't have anything in stock but can order: "Magnaflow is just down the street from us" No kidding Sherlock?

Oh well, guess Roxanne won't have Magnaflow on it.

You and Colin are getting pretty good with the welding thing, why not just make you own exhaust system? Just buy the tubing, rent a tube-bender (unless you have one) and get it done. Do something simple for now, dual un-muffled pipes exiting just in front of the rear wheels. After all, it is a race car, you don't need no stinking mufflers......

Yeah, we were just gonna buy the cat(s) and muffler from Magnaflow and do it ourselves. I suppose side-outs are an option. Colin has a mandrel bender, but only the insert for 1.5" tubing - we were planning on buying mandrel bends and Magnaflow muffler+cat(s), and then put it together ourselves. Anyway, the stockish Milano 2.5 system will have to do for Buttonwillow

I have agreed with most - if not all - of your decisions up until now! A flat-bed over to an exhaust shop is what? 70 bucks? You probably have AAA...

Dunno - custom exhaust may cost a bit more, but then again why skimp on it? There's not too much to it (out the side) - it should not be too much for something that is the right size for this engine, that looks good, works well and sounds right! You ca have it done in a day.

You've got a good point! It takes away from the do-it-yourself spirit of Roxanne, though. But maybe not much... Everything was intended to be "home" made and "affordable". The pessimist in me says that taking it to a shop will get it done, but it will likely still need modifications afterwards to be just right

This is true (at least in our case). Although our exhaust is very large (dual 2.5"), when we drove it away from the exhaust shop, there were no problems. 15 minutes into the drive it started rattling against the body. Fixed that. Then it started to rattle against the black bolt-on supports running longitudinally along the bottom of the car. Fixed that. Now it is rattling somewhere above the muffler. Not fixed yet. Realistically though, we are pretty happy with our exhaust
