It will be in C with R-compound, on my stash of discontinued Hoosier's for now. I don't plan to run slicks.

How did you calculate the base points for a Platinum + 3.0S, not just 3.0 ?

I consulted and discussed the 3.0 S conversion points-wise with Bruce Colby and Jim Ferris before proceeding. I was also considering 3.0 24v, but that would not be possible within C. Furthermore, 3.0 S 12v conversion is much less expensive than 3.0 24v when it is all said and done - A BIG FACTOR.
Keep in mind that there is 25 points available when moving from D to C. The extra 0.5 liter is 10 points, compression is 2 points, cams are 2 points, ...

Jes...I noticed that you used regular hose clamps on the new fuel lines. You may want to consider using the "smooth" type of hose clamps instead, since they tend not to damage the hose as much.
BTW....the points for the 2.5-3.0l conversion, as well as the conversion from 3.0l to 164S engine is documented nicely in the competition code.
Oh, there's a thread over on the gttv6 site where Jim K. makes a comment that he got good results by shortening the CSC headers by 25 cm. I assume that means that he cuts the primaries, not the collectors. Something to think about, as long as you've got the welding torch in your hand and Colins Polo "welding" shirt on.

Thanks for the observation! Good point. I actually just reused the clamps already on there, but I will locate some "smooth" ones as you suggest.

If you locate them please post where you found them. I'd like to get some as well.

So, before the engine goes in I need to finish up the firewall. Tonight I made my paper jig. See pics - pretty self explanatory...

and here some pics of making the metal version from the jig. Test fitted and fine trimmed it - just need to weld it up and weld it into the car.

This is what it looks like - just needs to be welded to the firewall.
Today I picked up the fuel cell from Dave Turner (now JMC Motorsports), and started fabbing the frame it will sit in. I plan to put it right on top of the rear axle, which means I will cut the rear firewall (basically make the existing holes larger/connect them). I spent some time measuring the area in the back to decide on the best location - I may weld up the rear firewall afterwards.

Made some progress today
First, Colin stopped by and welded the box to the firewall. I then painted it first with Wurth Rust Guard, and then with silver.

I welded up the frame for the fuel cell and into the car. The location is not ideal, but it will work. I would have liked it further forward, but eventually opted to keep things simple and locate it slightly further backwards to avoid modifications to the rear firewall. I still need to spray it body color - like the front firewall modification, I painted it with Wurth Rust Guard. Tomorrow I plan to paint it silver, mount the fuel cell, and perhaps start pulling the fuel lines.
