I'm just curious, what will be the fate of Roxanne? It has no A/C or insulation so no one in their right mine will buy this car (if you decide to sell it).... Will it be a parts car once the 3.7 and 3.2 arrive?

MWAHAHAHAHA... This is a race car, but on a budget (and to remain registered so that it can drive to events - pretty hardcore commuting) - not sure when the 3.7 will be resurrected, so I need something to play with

Ok, so the 3.2 is a pure street car (will be my daily driver), while the 3.7 is a race car. When/if the 3.7 breathes again Roxanne may become Colin's and my enduro car. Or, Judy's track car Though, it would take some serious convincing, but we did talk about that at some point.

Anyway, for now I'm just having fun working on it, getting my Alfa-fix when withdrawals set in (Man - I miss those trips to Seattle!!!), and then I'll have something for the track until the 3.7. If everything works out it will get an Autopower cage and be ready for race group by September.

Jes, come on up again ANY time!!! Moving, but working on the 3.2 again soon to finish it up!

By the way, next time, use a spot-weld drill bit

Oh! And, also - thanks for prepping my track car donour so nicely for me - why did you not just do all of that to my donour out back...!?

Too easy Nah, seriously, you know me, I wanted that sucker out last night, PERIOD - not a day later.

Speaking of coming up, visiting, etc. Recently I was joking (but partly serious) with Judy that I should have you come down and decorate the house (we were looking at furniture and home decor) - I've seen how you did with the salon and your house as of last time, pretty darn impressive. You've got some talent there! There is another business opportunity for you, my friend.

I remember having a long discussion with Jes regarding the fate of Roxanne before Buttonwillow. My take on it was this…

Not only does Jes need something to play with while his cars (Verde and 3.7) are being built, he needed a car that can help him prepare for the 3.7. The 3.7 will be a monster when completed.

I'm sure we can all agree that, although our egos tell us that we drive like Schumacher, the reality is that, we can't. Roxanne is a perfect car to hone your driving skills. With a low HP car, driver becomes even more critical in making the car go fast. Roxanne forces the driver to be smooth, carry speed through the turns, brake less, get on the gas earlier, keep your foot in it, momentum, momentum, momentum... you know the drill.

This is already started to show results. Looking at Jes' Buttonwillow reults, he was faster driving Roxanne compared to his modified Verde. At the track, we had long discussions on what he needed to do to reduce his lap times. With no LSD, he needed to find traction. With no HP and torque, he was forced to carry momentum and get on the gas earlier. Jes was polishing his lines so that he can carry more speed. You should have seen his face when he ended up beating his goal for that weekend. It was one of those MasterCard moments... priceless.

With completion of race school this September, Jes will qualify as a rookie racer for the October WS race. Time trials are fun but once you experience wheel to wheel racing, you'll never go back .

Next year, hopefully Jes and I can race Roxanne in the Enduro. Even if he decides to sell it, who wouldn't want a cheap race car? Knowing Jes, it will practically be rebuilt by then...

Colin

Yeah, those discussions at BW were priceless - sometimes you don't see the forest for trees. Besides, Colin driving (or drove, as springs and shocks on Roxanne are his old stuff now that he has the RS setup on the GTV6) a similar car and knowing how fast he is, the discussions carry huge value to me.

I love it. It really turned my car around. Compared to what I had before, what a difference. I just need to corner balance it in order to get the best out of it. Also, with RSR, I now understand why they recommend the 30 mm front sway bar .

Thanks.

Colin

Sweet dreams

Ok, only got started on the battery+box and kill-switch install today - didn't get much time on the car - too darn hot - didn't take much convincing when my 3.5 year old wanted to go to the pool. Anyway, find below some pics of the progress. The battery box is sealed with vent to outside through tube.

Well, a little progress to report. Got the battery relocation done. It is now in the trunk with an external kill-switch on the rear next to the license plate. The main power point is now right next to the double L-Jet relay and the connector point for the starter - it is on the same bracket (visible as the bright new bolt on the last picture).

AR4me,

What do you think of the fuel line? I think at the minimum it has to be encased in some sealed fireproof sleeve.

Either that or hard lines under the car away from the exhaust.
