Unhappy HELP! Milano Radiator/Water Pump Wires

Car : 87 Alfa Milano 2.5 Manual Transmission

I hit a pothole and the arm that holds up the hood popped out of its holder and hit the positive terminal on the battery. Result : hell on earth. The wiring the front right side of the car caught fire – or burnt ; car is “drivable” shuts itself off whenever you stop if the revs are not kept up. Temperature runs between 225-275. Suspect wiring to water pump and fan are burnt. On the way home there were also Christmas tree displays from the alfa control thing – all the doors were open flashing in some kind of weird pattern. The lights and the windows seemed to work though. Do you have any suggestions? Anyone have the parts?

Pictures of beautiful burnt wiring here : http://www.mathisenmotorsports.com/wires/

I guess its a good idea to keep that cap on the positive battery post. Now I know why!
I saw from your pictures you have somer burnt wiring. Replace it! Don't worry about the AR Control. That will correct itself when you fix whats wrong.
Where in NY are you? I might be able to help.

As I said before. replace the bad wiring and see where you are. The water pump is not electrical. The wiring in the pictures you put up are all grounds. Once you replace them you should be OK.

I have the same problem with the "Christmas Tree" effect in my "87 Milano. What causes that?

You say it like it's not supposed to do that...

They all do, it's on purpose! It's almost Christmas, right?

ok, just kidding. Both of my Milanos do that, only when it's cold and moist out though... usually goes away. I wouldn't worry about it. It's good for freaking out passengers

AH! I see said the blind man....

It is entertaining. I mean all those doors opening and closing on their own and so silently! It's been telling me a brake light is out (or the fluid is low) and neither is the truth. The car is getting back at me for calling it the "stepchild".
