removing shock boot

I'm trying to install my new koni yellows I got from performatek. I've got the old shocks off the car and apperently I need to take the boots and the metal things the boots are attached to off of them so they can go on the konis but I can't figure out how to do this. In fact none of the instructions seem very clear. If anyone has any experience installing thee shocks please help me.

I assume you are refereing to the front shocks. The "boot" is also the bump stop. It can stick on the shaft. I sprayed silicon lube all over the shaft areas then tapped the shaft out of the "boot". It might help to support the underside of the boot in a vise or something similar.
