Don't start with me Autronic boy...
How rude is it to come all the way down 500 miles and not stop by and hang out with your friend when you're down here?
hehe... just kidding

Is your car done yet? I think you spend the extra $95 and get a burnsstainless.com collector. 2 X 2" inlet and 2.5" outlet. That's what I'm using. BTW, aren't you gonna coat or wrap those headers?

Not done yet. Should be running this week. I need to put the dash back in before I can start it. Right now the whole DeDion & transaxle is sitting on the ground so I can install my SZ brakes, poly DeDion bushings, new trans mounts, rebuilt shifter, etc.
The cat I'm using is 2 X 2" inlet and 2.5" outlet. Is your EVO6 cat 2.5" inlet and outlet?
I want to make a cat bypass pipe for track events, so maybe I'll get the 2 x 2" into 2.5" collector eventually.
Headers aren't going to be coated for now... too late, they're already in the car. I thought about JetHot coating them, but Larry said that because of the thickness of the SS that it was unneccesary. Besides, silver headers might look suspicious when I go to get the car smogged.

Chip,
Larry's header's are black.
Yeah my cat is 2.5" in/out.
Oh yeah, you should also do 2.5" piping. But the tailpipe can be small. Mine's only 2". It really helped bring the noise level down.
It doesn't look kewl or anything like that, but it won't attract any cops either. Still sounds ok though.

The headers that Larry has on his 24v are just mild steel so he coated them, this was the first batch of headers that are stainless.
I just went and measured it, actually my cat is 2 X 2" into 2.25". Maybe I'll make the rest of the exhaust 2.5" so when I have the cat bypass pipe installed it will be 2.5" all the way back.
How much ground clearence do you have between the pipe and the ground where the exhaust goes under the DeDion crossmember?

Alright, I cruised burnsstainless and could NOT find oval pipes. Check out this cool setup on a Touring Car. More clearance, yet same cross-section for extraction of large volumes of exhaust ...
where can I buy these, and the flanges??

Just take 3" pipe and hammer on it with a sledge! It'll be oval!

Jeez, sensitive here...
I guess that I sometimes can sound like a complete d**k but you have to understand that English is't my native language.
I do however think that most of these "incredible" inventions are complete crap, and so far no-one has been able too provide proof that you actually gain anything and all logic and experience says it shouldn't.
Do you also have an Ecotech valve? It does give you better gas mileage by injecting precise amounts of air as controlled by a venturi in the brake-booster hose...
I'd also like to hear the answers to Chips questions. They are certainly interesting.
Do you route your exhausts under the de-Dion? You mean the "front leg"?
Just go to a machine shop with some drawings and explain the function and I bet they can make the flanges for you. I have done some flanges myself sometimes and it's quite easy.

The exhaust gets routed up over the axle and the rear of the DeDion, but where the exhaust passes under the DeDion crossmember (front part where the trans mounts to) is the lowest spot of the exhaust. The factory (at least on the US model V6 cars) exhaust turns into an oval section right there to increase ground clearence. I'm worried that with big 2.5" pipe that the ground clearence right there is going to be very small.
Hey 75evo, got any pictures of your 2.5" exhaust setup?

And is there adequate clearence or does it hit speedbumps and such? I assume your car is lowered, right?
Got any pictures of it?

Well, I wrote this excellent answer but then the forum decided I wasn't logged in so I lost it all.
I'll post the pics and you can ask questions ok?
Ride Height in the rear, same height under jack pos in front.
1.
2.
3.
BTW. Don't try the URL, doesn't work anymore...

Hey BigSwede, that's pretty clever. I've been meaning to USE the driveshaft tunnel as part of my exhaust routing.
With some BMW and Audi exhaust mounting bushings, I think I can actually route my exhaust IN the tunnel, alongside the driveshaft. My only worry is heat, since there is no insulation in the tunnel except for the foamy stuff on the interior side of the car.
So if someone can point me to an oval exhaust place, I'll experiment (and post pics) for everyone's benefit.
