75 and olsdschool Borbet wheels
Hello,
As I'm looking for 16 wheels for my 75 America I found classic Borbets (design A) ofered in very atractive price. I was looking rather for something more sporty than tuning style (my car is track day vehicle), but as far as I know it's good quality rim offering pretty good cooling for discs. It was designed in 1990 so time when 75/milno was in production so it may suit well. Despite this I can't imagine how would 75 look with such wheels so I searched web for 75/milano with borbest but with no result. Maybe someone of you has or knows such photos. I would be very grateful. Here is how AR 164 looks with them http://tinyurl.com/8ffda
Merry christmas to all AlfaBB users!

I have seen several Milanos (75s) with this wheel and I think they look very good. I think you will be pleased with them.

I have my spare set sitting in the garage. I think the Borbet Type A's look great and the only reason they are not still on the car is because one is bent (by PO) and tire cost gets pricey. They are light and fairly strong and at 16x7.5 they fit 205/45/16 tires perfectly. Lemme see if I can dig up an old pic... hold please...

Well, here are the only know photos I have of my car in the old config. Sorry they are small. At the time they were taken digital cameras only went 640x480 and they were cropped/shrunk because there was only dialup or DSL. Man I've had this car a long time

BTW, the centers were painted grey by the PO and I like it with the black contrast. You can even see the brush strokes if you see them in person LOL!!!

Fraz,
Thanks a lot for the pics. The car looks really good with borbet. I have to consider seriously this option although today I found another very intersting offer - wheels from Ferrari powered Lancia Thema 8.32. They are quite simillar to borbets but cost four time less! You wouldn't believe but here it's only 85 $ for set of four used ones in good condition. They are slightly slimmer to borbets (6.5 instead of 7.5) Here is how they look on Lancia: http://www.cardatabase.net/search/ph...hp?id=00015421
I suppose the are made by some well known wheels manufacutrer. Lancia used only the best parts in this model

Erm, isnt the PCD different if you get wheels from a Lancia? Or are they 5*98 aswell?

Yheap I'm getting confused about it. I had thought that Lancia would be 5x98 as it shares a lot of parts with AR 164. But I'm affraid not this time. Although I can't find any specifications for this particular Lancia (as far as I know this is this is the only Thema with 5 bolts) I think it's very likely to be 5*108 :-(

the lancia thema 8.32 runs on PCD 5x98 wheels, but the centrebore is 58mm instead of 58.5 for the milano, but i am not sure about the offset. you can ask a machine shop to open up the centrebore by 0.5mm to fit the milano.

A bit off thread, but...... I have a set of Borbet's that came fitted to my Junior Z. They look very similar to those pictured. If anyone in the UK is interested PM me as I am looking to part them out.

SSlim are you sure Lancia 8.32 wheels are 5*98?
As I worte it is what I initialy suspected as the car shares a lot wit 164. As far as I know lancia started to use widely 5 bolt pattern since kappa model but it has 5*112(?) PCD. I've been told that offered wheels are 5*108 by the seller but I think he really doesn't know what he is selling so I asked him to check it again. The centerbore is not a problem, as I can easily machine the wheels.

i am almost 100% sure. according to the factory parts CD, the thema 8.32 runs on the same front brake discs (new part #60622077 or 71739568) as the alfa 164 (5 lug) and the alfa GTV/Spider ('95 and above), all of which are running 5x98 PCD wheels.
from the picture, it looks like the lugs are close enough to be 5x98. or you can always ask the seller to do a simple measurement of the PCD. the simplest way is to draw a 98mm circle on a piece of paper, cut it out then place the paper over wheel lugs to see it fits the circle.

Looking for a Good Used Borbet 5 Spoke wheel, Type E sometimes referred to as a rounded Five Spoke. Anyone have One? Need it to replace a bent one. Thanks.

Just my opinion, but squarish chunky cars look better with light "open" wheels and slender aerodynamic cars look better with chunkier wheels. In any case, you probably couldn't ship 4 pan pizza's to Poland for less than $85 bucks.
From the photo, those Thema wheels look like hub caps. The Ferrari stickers were a nice touch tho...
