I think you should be more on another track. The 75 is of course an early 80's car. ( I believe they started on it in something like '83) - I had a '85 2.0 on carbs once.
I think you should take a small step back, and try to make it into an '90s car. Think along the lines of the last 164 Supers.(compared to the very first ones) Or in the direction of say a Maserati 222 Racing. Or Ghibli. These last are angular cars that absolutely DO look good.
The diffuser is far too rounded for the boxy 75.
Being a slim car (because based on '70s Alfetta) it first of all needs to be widened . Hence my pics of the Darth Vader 75. This way it falls into proportion. Once this is done, THEN you can start on other lines and details. I feel you have started in the wrong place, actually. You could also take a look at the ES30 SZ for some inspiration. First, make it fatter. Then soften some lines, then get into detail. Once it is fatter, you will have a better template for other mods. What IS good about a 75 is that it is a pretty tidy and neat design. There is very little fuss. Try to keep that in the design.
Otherwise, I like the idea....

I agree - set aside for the moment what you have and start fresh in another direction (sorry to be so simplistic - you've worked hard on this)! Call this one direction and then try again - starting fresh with something new. Maybe take a break from the rear and try another angle (if you have the time)!
The Milano/75 has more angles than my 5-year old daughter (Missus Loop-hole we call her...) The 80s were a great time for me, but 80-fieng the car doesn't do it for me and trying to bring it all of the way up to the new millennium, doesn't either. I think he's right - go 90s...
I also think that the inspiration for Milano mods come from the SZ, the smoothing of the later 164 LS/Super over the older 164 B/L/S cars and then from the IMSA DTM cars and then finally from the one massively fat SZ-fied red/yellow 75 that the two Euros did (in the earlier pictures of this thread...)
Also, have a look at this thread (if you have not already done so), of the kits that Brad did for his car.

Update.
I'm continuing to work on better representations/visuals when I have time and I also hear what you guys (Rik and Johnny) are saying. But I still think deep down, that with enough brainstorming, creativity and imagination, the Milano CAN be brought into 2009/10. I'll stop off in the 90`s along the way. But I don't think that should be it`s final destination.
Mind you, I could be speaking of an entirely new Milano (next generation if you will) that gets presented. But who am I to do this? I know. I get it. I've never owned a Milano and maybe I have no business "messing" with it as present owners have stated. But I believe in progression and can see huge potential with even just slight mods. Or just new lines that borrow from what makes the Milano that much loved by real owners. For those that want to see what that could be, let's find that balance.

10mm leds would look a lil better in there i think..i dunno i know i did up LED's for my project but led's are a tricky mistress to work with and have it look GOOD
if money is no object "projection led's or flat high output leds would be a better choice inside a custom housing..cause you cant drop a round peg onto a square car and well led's are round with the exception of the ones i mentioned
and the rambler..i have its lighter smaller little brother MUHAHAHAHHA ...ponders power to weight ratio.....and my flawless 50/50 balance. ...hell im at 1600lbs with a 2.5 and a 3.0 on the shelf..lotus elise eat your heart out
if anyone could get a perfect side shot ill see about chopping it into a 2dr the way im thinking as well as a possible 2dr wagon......b ut i need a dead nuts square on side shot to work from

is really close to what I think is the angle which shows the Verde's lines best. From 3/4 rear, I really do think it's a damned nice looking car. People may wonder what I mean by the "coke bottle" lines... examine the way the bottom of the sill skirt line moves, that's what I mean. Flush out the glass. Hide, but do not eliminate, the rear doors, and *maybe* extend the back angle of the rear window. I'm not completely sold that it needs a chop or a re-angle of the windshield.
IMO, the styling only falls apart at the nose. Narrow and modernize that, and it's gold.

LED's in some form or another are what I have in mind. C'mon, the Milano in an up to date version can't get by without them in some form or another. Anything else is just falling behind or just wanting to remain retro without today's new tech involved. I mean, can you really see car designers going back to the ol' push and turn tail lamp and tired-*** bulbs and non-HID headlamps?? Yeah right.
Your Lloyd will have some of the most creative lines I think I'll ever come across. There is no denying that. Just get her going. The power is already there for what you want.

Nice DS!! What timing. I was just cleaning up a draft I was working on for the past few days when I had a chance and you posted this shot to work from.
What I have is incomplete. But enough for a presentation of where I'm headed.

DEMON Milano - Milano Supercar Draft
Here's a draft that I've recently been working on. Now, in all the prior drafts, I stayed within the lines of an original Milano to see how that panned out. Well, it's time to start tweaking that box and bring this car into 2009. The concept is a Milano supercar. Only the best materials used. Period. CF from body to trim to rims. Everything. So forget all that mess about weight. That's no longer an issue within this concept. The 8C is the closest thing Alfa made to a supercar and I wanted to approach this draft on that level. Then go beyond by using a Milano. Talk about a challenge, as this draft has taken quite a bit of time.
There was so much that was done. Here are the highlights after a stock example.
Lengthened and narrowed nose
Completely new front end - Staggered lamps - futuristic heart - LED's and HID's
Redesigned 60/40 split rockers
Brushed aluminum upper rocker panel repeater
Raked windshield (but NOT height reduced)
Raised door sills
Lowered suspension
Re angled windows
Shortened and clipped rear doors (stealth look)
Widened wheel and body arches
Clipped rear end
Larger rims and tires - staggered out back
Hidden door handles with Milano trade-marked upper body line
Stretched Milano upper body line and wrapped it around the rear doors
Added more prominent rear shoulders
New side swept angular tail lamps w/white highlight
Re angled doors
Reduced side mirrors size to a smaller, more angular design
Angular chin splitter and inner grille inserts
It's quite the list and the car is far from done. It's a start and what I envision what a 2009 Milano RS package would render as such. Ok, you got me. I skipped the whole 2009 production model and went straight to SF DEMON tuning house!!

The rake and the chop effectively raise the... "shoulder line?"... seriously modernizing the look. I'm still a bit curious to see if putting in a few cues from the Montreal would be worth a try: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...o_Montreal.PNG, in particular the headlight treatment. It may not work at all, but I'm curious to see if it might.
The secondary line, the one below the thick black one, I think shouldn't notch down and then back up like that, but should flow straight & follow the higher black line. Removing that small window on the back door may end up preventing the window from lowering much, but I think it'd improve the line. The front is getting closer, but I think maybe the bottom of the "chin" should be pulled closer to the wheel arch, resulting in an angle similar to the one which defines the back of the roof line.
Still, all in all very nice!

DS,
Always good points and I had a couple more lines to correct. Just had to run out and wanted to post up what I had. Let me see what I can do.

Milano - Generation Next!!
I adjusted the front end including the lamps to a better perspective angle, corrected the upper profile body lines and deepened the rear wheel. Then I splashed on a coat of dark grey.
Here's where we're at for now. But a lot more tweaking is needed. I think I'd like to see what other lamps could work. Maybe I'll incorporate a set of round ones that DS suggested, along with other body tweaks.

im sorry but that needs to be streched 1 foot (8 inches MINIMUM)or be a 2dr....i like the lines and the work..the nose seems a tad to "sharp edged" even for modern..i mean i guess if we are pulling cues off of a caddilac its ok
hmmm projector lamps and ferarri 430 tail lights..thin line F1 mirrors...bottom edge of the nose splitter needs re-worked its not flowing..and theres to much "flat" vertical space on the nose thats not letting air flow

I think we really need to see some circles in here. IMO, the rear bit is (as it were) bang-on. Hides the rear doors, but they are definitely there. But the front, well, we all knew the front was going to be a challenge, eh?

Thanks for your input Bro. Y'know, one of the hardest parts of doing this stuff IS getting the proportions and angles to "work". Yeah, I didn't lengthen it enough and it does really need that. I was just trying to get the exteriors solid enough to tweak within.
No cues pulled from Cadillac. Actually, I haven't looked to other cars yet. Just pulling from my minds eye to start. I'll continue to try out new concepts and angles. What has helped most, is just doing a bit at a time, leaving it alone and then going back at a later date.

DS, You might be right on trying out some circles. The rear was MUCH easier to get right. All it needed was to be pulled in and building a more prominent shoulder right above the tail lamps. That area I just LOVE!!
The front is gonna be a REAL b**ch to get - from any angle. I'll try out some circles and then let it bake for a bit because I want to see wha wwe can do with that red Milano you linked-up.

The rear 3/4 is easy, because (IMO) the car is actually really nice looking from that angle. To be blunt, IMO, the Milano is the ultimate "butterface" car. As long as you're not looking at that bulldog snout, it's quite handsome. And then you turn the corner, and you get that "record needle across the album" sound.
I'm not sure it's possible to overcome it. But if anyone can, it'll be us loons.

.. and I actually think it's quite interesting that you echoed the "kick up" with the latest treatment, but pushed it forward into the the rear door. We're skating quite close to a Lagonda in the back, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
