Too funny guys. I straight piped it last night. Only rear muffler remains. Straight pipes from manifold to rear muffler. It's STILL not sounding right!

So let's look at the things I tinkered with to see what might have caused me to lose my awesome classic V6 ripping sound.

Ignition coil: Changed to a generic non-Bosch coil(tach doesn't work in case you were wondering)

Ignition wires: Changed all except the coil wire, that's still the original blue(I accidentally ripped my new one, so I kept the old wire)

New distributor cap.

Spark plugs were all removed, then put back. . .(bought wrong plugs, decided to keep original 4 pronged plugs.)

Messed with the timing a bit. . . Was very confused when I had the wires crossed and was wondering why it wasn't running properly.

Would any of this stuff cause me to lose my awesome sound that these cars have?

Well the basics.

is all 6 cylinders firing?
is there a clear path in. ( no rages left in the works)
a clear path out no plugged parts.
is the timing right. and advancing.
fuel filter(s) clean?
compression test OK on all cylinders?

I would think timing would be the most obvious thing that would change the sound. Have you ever ridden in/driven another one that sounds like you want yours too? Its possible that it sounded better becasue it was running rough before, and now that everything is working its different.

I had a Giant Hole in my exhast after the Cat.

I took it to a shop.

132 Dollars later the cat is now hollow so it appears as though it is there. the shop i went to put brand new pipes from there back. They did a great job and i noticed a big difference.

I live in Washington just North of Seattle. Never had any issues with cops pulling me over for anything like emissions.
