I would suggest going on a diet and loose 50 lbs Loose it up top preferrably That should also improve quality of life long term My second suggestion would be to mount a set of pedals in the car for extra boost when needed You know what? you could combine one and two and only fire up the engine when you need the boost
Ok, that is it. Well, actually, I got one more : you could mount solar panels on the roof, and save the weight and drag of the alternator Though, you have to be careful since you are adding weight up high and taking weight off down low - this could have negative impact on handling However, this may not be a big issue if you are mostly concerned about stop light races and hey, if you prefer your girls this way, maybe it'll work for the 75 as well.

Jes (Ok, I'll admit I was bored. Well, actually, I wanted to make it to post #3100, and I didn't have time to find a spammer to report )

I think you will find forced induction or massive stroke/bore increase is the only way to get real torque low down. Hell, the 24v makes peak torque at 5500rpm.

What transaxle do you have? 4.11? If not, cheapest upgrade
OUCH Mez!!! Not good
Turbo is so damn tempting!!! Any links for Patzo_3L's machine?
My g'box is the standard Potenziata 1. I can't say for sure what diff ratio it has but the gear ratios are quite closely spaced.
I've had low diff ratio cars and the high cruise revs just get annoying. Get the thing to make some better torque and it's win win IMO.
It's a road car 1st, 2nd and 3rd. If I want to drag race I'll use the MR2 for it's traction, strong g'box and HP.

Dear AlfaBB.

I'd like more horsepower because I keep running into cars that outrun me. But please, keep it within a tight budget

That's at Laguna Seca, coming down the corkscrew, yeah, we don't pick the easiest competition!!! 12v 3.0V6, 4.10 LSD rear-end. Still can't outrun a MC12. Damn. What am I doing wrong?

I have to chime in here with the supercharging argument. While my kit and all the needed stuff may seem expensive, it's not the only supercharging option out there.

If you are on a serious budget you could make the supercharger kit yourself. There are plenty of used low price superchargers on evil bay. Everything you need to know to make your own kit is in my book, and the whole project can be done with a mig welder and a sawzall. It will be a lot of work, but it can be done for a lot less money than the other options here. It's also highly effective.

This is the whole reason I wrote that book. You don't think I am making a ton of money on it do you? Has anyone here tried to have 120 color pages printed up for $35 lately?

Greg

We could always set up a prayer group and ask God to bless our engines with more power. Praying is free after all.......

free, and a waste of time too. Cant be waiting for someone else out there to do things for you...

Duk, just do a cheapo turbo/supercharger upgrade on her, and if you are keen, get the pistons out and just machine them ala' callaway. 300hp shouldnt be an issue...

Nizam your car looks amazing.

We should just jump on the defense. The tired 3.0 12V probably burns oil, so why not make an oil dump valve (obviously don't use your engine oil). This could stop other cars from accelerating. 10 inch tires won't do you any good with no traction!

Just get a gigantic nitrous kit. That'll give you your acceleration.

Errr, Nizam was driving the Challenge Stradale (still wasn't enough to keep the MC-12 behind him), which easily outpaced his old time trial car.

But that doesn't mean somebody wasn't doing their best to do Alfa proud!

Hi April!

What kind of lap times are the two cars doing at Laguna? That old Milano does look quite handsome

Heya Grant!

HOD frowns upon timing of any sort, but Nizam used to run around 1:56 with that car. It wasn't fully sorted out this time around (ran out of time), but best guess around 2:00. I had to back off a tiny bit.

The Kumho V710 are not quite as confidence inspiring as the Hoosiers we've used before, and I found out in the 2nd session when pushing harder, that the ABS wasn't working! Had a nice tank slapper approaching the gravel trap in turn 2. Got off the brakes instantly, gave it a tickle of gas, things straightened enough to where I could get back on the brakes and make a *very late* turn-in. Whew! But overall the car was a train, hammering along all day without complaint.

Hey Nizam, can I see some pictures of your exhaust routing? I see the center exit on your exhaust and am wondering what you've done over the De Dion.

Thanks,

Don

That's to keep the JATO thrust symmetrical. Let it get a little unbalanced, and things go sour quickly. And it is a pretty car.
