I have been reading about your home-made fix for the oil canister and I am going to give it a try. I have a recently acquired 81 Spider with the dual carb setup and no smog equipment. This results in a smelly cabin. For the time being I am running a large hose to ground off the cam cover crankcase ventilation port. The small rubber tube that originally ran from the oil separator to the dipstick tube is still there, so what I am missing is what you made. I have one question for you...what does the large bore hose coming off the bottom of your new canister connect to? I have none of the original fuel injection housing parts in the engine bay, and I do not know if I need to have that bottom hose connected, or continue to run it to ground, or connected to what?
