Does flying to SoCal, buying a GTV6, driving to the Potlatch, fraternizing-driving-playing music-partying hard, then driving back to MAINE USA count ??

Glennco,

That would be a great trip! Our MAARC Chief Scrutineer, Pet Leprechaun and Spider Guru, Skip Patnode is planning to drive to the convention...IN HIS '67 DUETTO!!!! If that isn't going to get him close to the prize, I don't know what will!

For all of you Potlatch guys, please look after Skip well...we will need him back here in one piece as soon as you are finished with him. After all, there will always be more sick Alfas requiring his expertise!

Here's a pic of Skip and his car:

Lets see how this works:
Leave Corpus Christi Tx. and drive north west to Ft. Collins Col. to join a friend and his 59' Sprint.
Drive south west to Ogden, Utah to grab another buddy and his '73 Spider.
Caravan due west until we hit water.
Turn north and drive until we run out of country.
Look for Alfas, play, laugh, and enjoy.
Thats about it.
A few days later reverse steps on different roads.

Wink Here's a nice challange!

Alex, et al -
Not to worry, we'll keep our eyes out for Duetto w/ PATNODE plates. I don't know if he'll recognize me driving a Real ALFA, instead of the AlFORD Romero I had in NH last summer.
It would appear he would have a mile or two up on any other attendees, based upon today's registration list, but... (maybe someone from Georgia???)

See you in July

Gordy,

Thanks! Skip is practising for the event by driving up to Vermont for a couple of weeks. If I can have as much energy when I am his age, I'll be a truly happy man! Heck, I don't think I have as much energy as he does now and he's got a good 20 years on me!!!!

He prefers beer to wine, loves good jokes and is always going out of his way to help folks out. Just so you guys out West know, Skip is the current MAARC Alfista of the Year, having very deservedly earned our "Roger Medlin Award" for his enthusiasm, helpfulness and participation in the Mid-Atlantic Alfa Romeo Club. I couldn't think of a better ambassador for our very wide-spread Alfa club than Skip. Oh, and by the way...and I don't say this lightly...Skip isn't just my best friend, he's also the most 'intuitive' mechanic I have ever met! He can find, diagnose and fix (not replace, he's way too cheap for that!) just about anything that could ever go wrong with your Alfa, and he would do it all with a piece of wire, a diode from an old radio, a bushing he carved himself and a couple of pieces of metal that he welded together from scraps!!

But please don't keep him! We need him back!!
