Finally set my SS up on a rotisserie
Hello all, well it's been close to 6 months in the making but I finally hooked up my 63SS to my new rotisserie.
If you are wondering why it took 6 month i'll let you know as long as you promiss not to contact my wife. You see, I purchased it on ebay and had it shipped to my work address. From there, usually once a week when her shifts ended later than mine, I'd sneek a few pieces home and threw them in the garage without her noticing. From there I painted them and slowly started to assemble it.
If you are questioning my manhood I don't blame you. Am I scared of her finding out? Yes.
Now the good stuff. It took me a while to figure out how to set it up on the SS and through some fabricating I was able to make it work.
I plan on starting the restoration hopefully by summer.
See attached pics.
Cheers
Stathy

Classic . Understand, but who does the accounts?
I also have to wait to buy things, but as my wife does the accounts I cannot do the sneeky thing ... sometimes I throw caution to the wind and just spend , and then mumble something as I run to the workshop

I guess I'm lucky in one sense. I do all the accounting which I thought was the norm, but it seems that most men I speak to have their wives balance the checkbook.
Maybe it's time for a poll question?

As many of us know, it's better to ask forgiveness than permission.
Here's an episode from a few years back. Wife to me after a set of new Hoosier tires appear stacked in the driveway: "I thought we bought new tires last week?". Me: "But those were autocross tires and are too soft to use for multiple laps on a race track. We need these for the AROC Convention Time Trials". "OK, but I get to drive, too..."

Asking for forgiveness is the "only" way
My wife does not drive (by her choice) and does not get the car thing, thus anything I spend on my Alfa is really spending money on me and my hobbie. She does like going for trips, etc. though, so once the Alfa is finished I am sure "my keen-ness to jump into the Alfa and go site seeing" will pay dividends.

... all to true.
By now, at last I convinced my partner about the fantastic "investment" potential of classic cars and the need to diversify our portfolio!
Nevertheless, I now need to do a business case for each car I want to buy and have pretty good spreadsheets and am well versed in tricky discussions
I only need to sell a car to realize the fantastic value creation
Good luck on the restoration and the relationship!
Mike

Stan,
It's really great to see you going all out on getting your SS together. I have been procrastinating about getting mine blasted, maybe I'm afraid of the ugly truth it will no doubt expose.
Keep the pictures coming.

Mike, thank you for your well wishes.
Unfortunately I don't think I'm smart enough to convince my wife that I'm doing this for our retirement portfolio.
I think she realizes this everytime she sees the 3 unfinished cars in the driveway
Cheers

Thanks Matt, I'm actually following your restoration with anticipation.
As you can see, my ugly truth is fully exposed.
To be quite honest it doesnt scare me at all in the least bit.
The only thing that worries me is trying to replicate pieces that are so wrotted that I cannot figure out the pattern.
Perhaps we should share as many pictures as possible.
Keep in touch.
Stan
