Unknown TZ-1 seen on Techno Classica in Essen
Hello members,
This is an unknown TZ-1 that I saw on the Techno Classica in Essen last week. According to the information it was built in 1964, the chassisnumber wasn't mentioned. I didn't get a look under the bonnet so can't show you photographs of the engine. Any members have a clue as to what this TZ-1 is?
Ciao, Olaf

Hello Alfatango1,

The chassis no. on this car is 7500011. The real car with that chassis is based in the UK, and has a full and complete history.

Another TZ-1 that is a 'twin sister' to the real thing?

Thank you Chris for that information! So this is another TZ-1 that is a 'twin sister' to the real thing?
I had a look in the books to trace something of the history of chassisnumber 105.11.750011. It was produced in 1964 according to Maurizio Tabucchi. Marcello Minerbi says in his book 'Alfa Romeo SZ - TZ', published in 1985 by Mille Miglia Editrice, about 750011; quote 'Alfa Romeo racing test and ram car tuned for the 1964 Le mans and Targa Florio. Dual ignition head. Under restoration. Ex-owner Vegher. Present owner (1985); M. Sperry, U.S.A.' unquote.
And in the book 'Alfa Romeo TZ Zagato - Autodelta - Conrero' by Philippe Olczyk published in 2002 it says; quote'Colour Red, Type Race, Date 30 april 1964, '906059 MI' 1964, 24 hours of Le Mans - Bussinello/Deserti 1 cl. 1964, Hill Climb Chamrousse - Rolland. 1964: Hill Climb Mont Dore - Rolland 9 OA. 1965: Copa Citta di Enna - Rava. Targa Florio. Peru Race Car. Dual ignition head. Vegher. M. Sperry. 1998: Leonard. Restored USA. 2000: STPO. 2002: sold to Nick Mason. We have seen the car and it is modified' unquote.
Ciao, Olaf

FYI: OK Parts in Germany have some pictures of this car on their web site (see here).
Doesn't look like a twin-plug head to me.

GTA246GT,
I also saw the car and have the contact details. In addition i also saw papers of the car and had a long chat with the seller. I'm presently travelling and with limited internet access. Back home around the 10th and i'll contact you then.

Twin plug head?
Hello Tubut,
I had a look at the pictures at the OKP website. Here is one of the pictures of the engine of the TZ-1 from the OKP website. I have included a reference picture from our own forum.
Have a look at the engine, the radiator, the steeringbox, the firewall.
Ciao, Olaf

I'm sorry, I know that this post looks and is unfair, but...Cicero pro domo sua.
In Milano we say:
"ogni giorno nasce un cucco, beato chi lo cucca"
Maybe somebody with a better knowledge of english than me can translate.

Well, "un cucco" literally means "a cuckoo", but it can also mean a fool or a simpleton. So you'd have to say that it means "there's a sucker born every minute, and happy is the man who suckers him".
Not much sympathy for suckers in Milan, obviously!!
