Dashboard
Hi Olaf,
can it be, that the dashboard and console of #1800003 is just the original steel plate coated with black plastic. Imagine the dashboard in the added foto covered with black vinyl.

the zagato-cars.com shows that 1800009 is in the UK. it is listed as a 1969... there is a little more information there, including the email address of the current owner and a no-sale auction listing from 2004 and reference to a "Sannito Bros. Collection" (wonder what that is!). (Olaf, the engine number is shown as AR00530*50446, if that's of any interest to you)

Hello Jochen,
Thanks for the input. It's a possibility that the facia of the dashboard and the console of this car are just metal with a plastic coating and/or with black vinyl. Thanks for the picture of your dash!
It is certainly not like the definite production plastic facia for the dashboard and the stainless steel cover on the console.
Ciao, Olaf

in addition to the differences Olaf quoted Marchiano on, looks also like it has recessed door handles. i'm often curious about why a less prominant choice wasn't selected for this feature on the production cars. (and Gordy, did you notice? a LOCKING gas door!).

Note the size of the side markers on #442 car formerly owned by Bill Gillham and Fred DiMatteo.

perhaps # 003 renewed the center facia in later? it also is of different material and color; now black insteat of thin metal sheet and shiny.
i believe the side markers on car # 442 are custom made.(by the previous owner?) At that time they were quite normal for European cars registered in the US. US shipped Mercedes cars had the same side markers front and rear. It had something to do with US regulations.

Hello Frank,
It is possible that the material on the the centre console of #1800003 was renewed during it's life. The prototype in post number 3 also has black material on the centre console (or so it seems to me). Therefore, I would suggest that the black material on #1800003 could be authentic.
Nob Z, could you tell us something about this question?
I searched for more pictures of the prototype JZ with Giulia rear lights. I couldn't find any! Sorry guys. Maybe someone else?
Ciao, Olaf

Olaf,
Look again; you posted the photo yourself in the first post, the 3rd one.
Also, look at the dash on the no.3 car, the dash is different; the gauges are placed on top of the plastic dash cover where as on my car and the other ones I know the plastic cover is in front of the gauges, making them look smaller. Same goes for the control lights. On the JZ dash, the only chrome/metal is on the center console.
As for the center console with a hazard light switch, this was for the German market. If you have this, than you also have orange front parking/indicator lights and a chassis plate under the bonnet (hood?) on the right front fender.
I had all 3 but since the console was a mess, many holes lots of wires, I removed the switch and because orange parking lights are illegal in Holland I had to buy white lenses.

Look what I found today!
Hello NobZ and other Zagato aficionado's,
Look what I found today! Could this be an early JZ? Could it be #1800003 that NobZ told us about? The car seems to be in Japan or imported from Japan. It is for sale at this website:
Alfa Romeo GT Junior Zagato for sale, classic cars for sale uk
I have asked the seller to check the chassisnumber on this car. I am curious as to what the answer will be!
Ciao, Olaf
