Alfa Romeo SZ #00108

Dear all,

Do any of the readers have any history or photographs of the SZ chassis number 00108?

This car was in South Africa in the early 1980's and was considered as a purchase by myself in about 1980.

Dear TWINCAM,

David Cohen was my contact for this car in South Africa in the 1980's.

I did receive some news about the car some time ago. The car was apperently sold to a person in Germany who took it to the Nurburgring for an outing on the track. The car was destroyed and subsequently rebuilt.

What I was hoping for was photographs and or news of the car before its time and after its time in South Africa.

That car looks great. I'm sure lowering it and throwing on 14x7 GTA wheels improved the way the car moved around the track.

And the stock tires rub on my car! Looks like a bunch of fender work was done inside and out, and probably a narrowed rear end. It would be interesting to know where this car is today. - George

Dear George,

Well the car was not totally original when I viewed it in 1980. As you have pointed out the fenders had been 'extended', it had a 1750 motor and had some other 'non original' bits which 'put me off' the car at that point in time. I probably would view it differently today at 1980 prices.

Perhaps ten percent of what it would be worth today. - George

Dear Fortom,

Thank you for posting the photograph of the SZ at Kyalami, South Africa.

To the best of my knowledge there was only one SZ in South Africa in the 1980's. I do not think there are any in that country at the moment as the one I am thinking about was sold to a person in Europe.

The photograph you posted is the sort of information I was hoping members of the BB would post.

Hopefully we will receive some other photgraphs of this vehicle before the 1980 era and the era thereafter.

the chassis number AR 00108 originally corresponds to an Alfa Romeo Giulietta SZ (101.26), manufactured on the 25th January 1961 and sold on the 30th January 1961 in London, U.K.
after that ????
David Cohen in Johannesburg,
and
The car was destroyed and subsequently rebuilt.

So same number's SZ in now in Japan
What do you think the car in Japan is same car or Fake car ??

Thanks in advance

Front and rear do not look right, but as can be seen it already had damages and modifications about 30 years ago. So if it was destroyed and rebuilt, what parts are original, what quality is the work, and do it have documentation (invoices and photos, photos, photos).

Without full documentation it is worth a lot less, even if it may have been rebuilt on the original chassis. You can only go for sure by comparing the parts with old original photographs, not easy without dismantling. The 1980s replicas (and there are some!) look old, too, after 25 years.

What I worried about is......
The car is original car or replica......

Hope...this car is original one.....Ummmm
Does anyone have Original front Brakes ??
Any information welcome

Thanks

sz

Not sure if this comment is worth very much however the one car seems to have steel wheels with hubcaps and the other 'magnesium' wheels.
