To be on he save side! Chassis 01461
Hi All,
To be on the save side; in one of the posts I read that there isn't a photograph of chassisnumber 01461 with Bettoia/Feroldi) in the 1959 Targa Florio (or was it the Mille Miglia??).
In the book 'La targa Florio della Giulietta' by Gino Giugno (Edizioni Fotograf, 2006, ISBN 88-95-272-00-5) on page 178 you will find a picture of car nr. 36with a subscript that reads 'Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Veloce nr. 01461 n. 36 Rm 294009 Sergio Bettoia - Vittorio Feroldi'.
Does this help??
Ciao, Olaf

Re Post #23: the unknown Jean-Pierre Schild car is very possible SVZ #02488 from comparing some photos. It had the 1956/1957 front but the 1958 rear in the late 1950s. When coming to auction in 1997 it had a later SZ front
Re Post #239: the colour of SVZ #04717 is bianco or a very bright blue, but never grigio metallizzato.
The unknown SVZ No. 37 that Jean Hébert/Marcel Lauga had destroyed at Le Mans 1958 seemed to be light blue
Re Post #240, the Le Mans 1960 photo: the fourth guy standing is José Rosinsky, who drove with Giorgio Ubezzi that very race in the rebodied SVZ #01944
Re Post #242: Alfa Romeo belonged since the end of WWI to the Italian government, I do not know about private share holders
Re Post #245: I have tried to translate the AutoMotoKlassiek article, but I am not familiar with the Dutch language, my mistake to take Friedhelm Vogt into your #02028. I found Giorgio Becucci racing the 19561028 Campionato Sociale dell' AC Bologna at Modena, when he was 2nd in class (TS1.3/GT1.3), but there was no car given (Alfa? SVA? #02028?)
Re Post #246: SVZ #05684: the body is similar to SVZ #01521, and both cars are based on SprintNormales
Re Post #252: definitely the same SVZ #02028, but only 15 years later. It is very easy to change the windscreen wipers into an other direction
Re Post #255: the car was pictured in Post 25 (Georges Berger/Andre Roggemans at the 1959 Nuerburgring 1000km)
Re Post #256: In Post #9 I wrote that there is no photo which confirmes that Bettoja raced the 1959 Targa Florio with his SVZ #02308. According to the Giulietta-Targa book, "Pegaso" Bettoja raced on SVA (if it was his old #01461 which was not converted to SVZ, it was reregistered). From comparing photos I would guess that the Ruggiero/Monaci car from the same event is #02308
Original body
By comparing the actually existing cars with photographs from the SVZ's heydays, I would grant following cars original body lines: #02028, #02348, #02488, #04069, #04249, #04657, #08780, and SVM #04718. All of the SVZs seem to have lost their original front, #08780 even its rear, but the roof lines still fit
Less is known of #01521, #03613, #04045, #04458 (the white and the yellow car), #05684, #09403, and three japanese cars (two grigio metallizzato, one rosso)
By now I have no photo record of #03699, #05114, and #06936

Ok, I have more or less 500 1/43 Alfa and I have one question, for the moment, about this car, the SVZ, a very Alfa car!
Provence Moulage about 15 years old made a kit of this SVZ:
This is the SVZ:
SVZ #04717 (Post 45+58)
19570622 production date: SVA
195802 for sale by G.A.P., Paris, France
195803 sold to Bernard Consten/Jean Hébert, 50/50
195804 rebodied to SVZ: bianco , registered (643 EH 14)
19580518 Deutschland-Rallye, Hébert/Consten, 1oa: first entry
19580712 Critérium International des Alpes, Consten/de Lageneste, 1oa
19580831 Liège-Rome-Liège, Consten/Hébert, 1oa: last record
19581109 Tour de Belgique, Hébert/Consten, 1oa: not confirmed, they raced also a GiuliettaTI sometimes this year
195904? Zagato fitted the body to another chassis, possibly SVII #08780, registered (948 FA 14): not confirmed
It's correct? But now my friend from Belgio tell me that this SVZ was not white but grey metall. like the new kit IV models:
So, I ask you, wich color is correct? White or Grey m.?
Many thanks

Here are some stills from the Shell film in color of the 1958 Coupe des Alpes. The Consten/de Lageneste SVZ appears to my eye neither white nor silver but a shade of light gray. You may see a different color there. Cheers.

A new book on SVZ
Dear All, a new book by Gino Giugno entitled ‘Giulietta Sprint Veloce Zagato’ (Edizioni Fotograf, 2007, 198 pages, italian and english text, ISBN 978-88-95-272-22-1).
It contains some interesting news about SVZ #02308, sold by Sergio Bettoja, dead two months ago, on 19580830 and registered on 19590502 “Na 148388” driven by Giuseppe Ruggero in Targa Florio 1959 (see Pra documents at page 94). SVZ #02308 was sold on 19600206 to Clelia Rossi (SA 38082, driven by Fernando Natella in Targa Florio 1960) and later to Antonio Covino (NA173478 see Post 24+134) (see Pra documents at page 144). According to other Pra documents (page 118) the SVZ #03249, a new entry, was bought by Ennio Malinverni of Turin on 19570119 and later sold to Virgilio Conrero (Racing Sport Srl) on 19570906. The car was written off by Jean Hébert at Le Mans (Post 37) Best Wishes Andrea
