No, I did not. In January 2007 I finally found a body shop in Van Nuys, California, where the body man had an extra stall to house my little Sprint Speciale. He took his sweet time, but in mid-August the sills were completed. The price was attractive (he had looked at just the outer sill and quoted on that basis not understanding what might be lurking underneath), so as I was inspecting his work as he was going along I rewarded him by then having him strip the body panels to bare metal and refill small rust holes, fix indentations, and straighten out the passenger front quarter panel that had been badly repaired with rivets. Had the sills been a big price tag, I was simply going to strip and repaint, but now I had the budget to do it right. I think he won't be finished with all of that until March 2008. I don't really mind the wait. I know he works on my car when he does not have other activity. That's fine by me. He's one of those old-school craftsmen.
