Fred / Mike,
I placed a quick email to Omicrom Engineering in the UK as I read their profile in one of the recent Auto-Italia issues as Lancia specialists. They indicated they have come up with a way of repairing and reinforcing these mechanisms and quoted me £33.75 (plus freight) for the work on a pair
Omicron Engineering: Lancia spare parts and restorations . Worldwide mail order service
Regards,

Interesting. I'm not too keen on shipping my seat adjusters out as they are pretty hard to replace if they get lost. The price seems OK. I spoke to another JrZ owner who's mechanic came up with a repair. He also wanted me to ship the unit out or would tell me how to fix it for some $. Now I really am inspired to do the repairs myself. When I come up with a method I'm happy with I will publish it here - no need to send me any cash :P

don515jz pointed out in his 10-09-2009, 06:37 AM post here that thumb screws very similar to the originals are still available in stainless, brass, or galvanized steel.
Also, when you pull your headliner out, you may see a stencil of the original stitching pattern. See also this thread. Check your glove box; it may have the original headliner material (though mbaum says his 1600 has black chequered carpet material in the glove box).
Beautiful car! ... It was a blue Junior Z in the parking lot of the 2000 Concorso Italiano (license plate ZAGATO) that re-hooked me on these cars (still have the picture pinned to the wall of my garage). Love the blue!

Thanks for the links. I'll be ordering some stainless thumb screws soon.
My headliner is not original so I suspect no stencil will be there.
Yes, JrZs are quite amazing. After a driving my other Alfas I forget how much fun the Zs are to drive too.

No - No work on the seat mechanisms. Passenger side works perfectly, drivers side fixed crudely by welding it in place. No big issue as the position it is welded to is so comfy. Needs to be addressed at some point in the distant future ...
Another avenue might be to replace the mechanisms. Initially we thought that they are so rare but they were also used on the Flavia Sport so replacement, while not plenty, should be out there ... somewhere ...
And true: The lining for the glove box is different between 1300 (Headliner material) and 1600 (Carpet weave material in black).
Jason, you sure on 2000? My car is blue, has the license plate J Zagato and was at Concorso in 06, at Quail in 10 :-)

Ah, so that is what is inside the glove box on the 1600... I did not have a glovebox in my car so I had to make one. For the lining I used black non-slip rubber sheets. At least nothing slides around!

Yes, I'm sure. It was a 1300. Here it is:

I had seen a handful of Junior Z's during a trip in the '70s, and a few pictures of them here and there, and then we saw this one in 2000. I haven't been the same since.

Hey guys.
I also have problems with my JZ 1300 original seat adjusters.
When pushing on the back of the seat, the back falls back.
Not a nice feeling.
I did pull them apart and had a look, but gave up and fitted a pair of 76 Spider seats temporarily.(2 years now)
The original seats are in storage, but at least I can still drive the car with the Spider seats.
If any of you have an easy fix for the seat adjusters,I would like to know,so I can put the original seats back in one day.
I still read all the other JZ posts every morning.
Keep up the enthusiasm guys.
Robert

Wow, looks great in black! I'll be attacking the seat adjustors in a week or two and will post all my photos here.

Some of us Jr. Z owners will recognize our own cars in those photos. One that I saw captured mine (Zach) with its namesake (the only picture I've seen with the two of them together before Zach was killed by a drunk driver).
Very cool collection!!
Another one has Braino and 00015 as he bought it from Pat.

Which pix is that? Since I remember the car was white when we brought it to the US, I don't recognize the car if it was a different color when he bought it. Was it the one posted by electrofreeze, with the later added black stripes?
