4R Zagato (Leontina)
Memebers, can anyone tell me if there is a 4R with the chassis number 0110092.
There is a person in the netherlands who told me that it's so.
Or is it the number of the Zagato factory
if you please let me know

Alfa Romeo Quattroruote
Hello Pieter,
I think it is unlikely that the number "0110092" was assigned by Alfa Romeo or Zagato to a Quattroruote (4R). However, the numbers on these cars can be hard to find and some similar cars have had numbers assigned to them by various govenrmental licensing bodies. In Italy, these are called "numeri d'ufficio" and in the USA they are often called "assigned V.I.N. numbers". It is perhaps important to remember that numbers are simply numbers and are a way of helping us to identify when we are speaking of the same car and sometimes when we are not. That said, there can be confusions when numbers were used more than once, when numbers are misread, when incorrect claims or assumptions are made and when the original number cannot be found easily. Sometimes a number is not enough to describe a car!
If the car was made by Alfa Romeo and Zagato and if it has not suffered too much damage through time and certain kinds of "restorations", it should be possible to find clues as to the original number that was assigned by Alfa Romeo and/or Zagato.
In this case, I have been informed rather vaguely in the past couple of years of an "Alfa Romeo 6C Zagato" look-alike (alloy-bodied) that is on a "prewar chassis" of some unknown type bearing the number "0110092", the number being stamped on top of the chassis at the left rear. The car is apparently fitted with a relatively modern 2000cc Alfa Romeo engine and five-speed but no additional details have been shared. More than this, I do not know and I do not know even how accurate this scant bit of information is. I would certainly be pleased to hear more from anyone who does know something more or who can corroborate.
Best regards,
John de Boer

FWIW, the "Quattroruote Zagato", which d'Amico and Tabucchi refer to as "Gran Sport Quattroruote", made from 1965 to 1967, all seem to have chassis numbers in the 393xxx range. Their book says 393002 to 393097 were LHD, and 393901 to 393910 were RHD.

The Leontina and the 4R are mentioned here as if they are the same car, and there is no connection between the two. I have no records of the chassis numbers on the Leontinas.

This number does not match any Alfa Romeo chassis number I know of.
There is also no such animal as a 4R Zagato (Leontina)
There is a Quatroroute Grandsport Zagato known as 4R which is an official Alfa Romeo
and a
Petenella Leontina, which an independently made copy of a GS 1750 and has nothing to do with either Alfa Romeo or Zagato

John. thank you for the answere, I think it's a righthanddrive clone of the 4R
maybe built in Great Brittan.
But are there other typical things for the 4R, such as the brakes or the chassis, axes or I don't know?
Best Regards
Pieter

Zagato 4R #393050
This car will be on the road sometime this Spring/Summer. I have attached some photos taken on a beautiful winter day in Upstate New York. The car has been partially disassembled for several years, but is now nearing completion. I hope to have the engine/transmission installed this weekend.
