That's not an AutoDelta part. Several racers have fabricated this type of race shifter. Here's one:

If this is what you are looking for, I think there's some folks that are making another type too. Don't know if they are into fabricating for others, but I'll ask if this is what you're looking for.

No this is not what I saw It has autodelta stamped on the bottom and looks identicle to the original stick only in alloy Aan I seem to remember reading that it was a option .

Yes, I know it is not Autodelta. Mike Valant designed and fabricated it. Has durallium been around since the sixties?

camcar77 can you get a photo of the shift lever?

Sorry Osso, I was referring to camcar's comment. BTW - I enjoyed the stuff you have on your car's reconstruction. Very informative and so well documented.

Re Durallum - this is a term used for a high strength aluminum alloy developed for WWII aircraft, so its been around from the 40's. Seems strange to use on a shift lever.

Camcar77: are you referring to the magnesuim transmission case, bell housing used for light weight on the GTA's? The cars had several aluminum items replaced by magnesium castings to reduce the car's weight - it was over the weight limit for the homogation group, so Auto Delta did a lot of costly things to reduce weight.

lightweight gear lever

Guys-
Check out bottom of page 5 (options for GTAm)
http://home.earthlink.net/~jtandmary...icles/id1.html

They do list a lightweight gear lever as an option. No pics or any more info. I'll take a look in Alleggerita and see if there any info there.....

I am sorry too. I didn't mean to sound snooty. Thanks for the kudos on the car.

Update on 'Dural', or Duralum alloys. The first recorded use I have found of this material is the LZ-1 Zeppelin. The frame rings were made of dural castings.

"ZEPPELIN was the name given to the duralumin-internal-framed, dirigibles invented by the persistent Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin. The LZ1 made its initial flight from a floating hangar on Lake Constance, near Friedrichshafen in Southern Germany, on 2 July 1900."

Here's a web site to start with:

Alfa GTA did have a lightened gear lever. It essentially looks like the standard piece on a 67 GTV (you need to push for reverse) but it doesn't have the rubber bushing at the bottom. It's welded instead. Material is standard.
