I completed a wiring harness for a SZ Coda Tronca a couple years ago and I could try to put you in contact with the owner. Please contact me via PM for details.

Hello Coda,

First welcome to the alfabb! I saw that you just purchased your first SZ in your profile. Congratulations. Could you tell us something about your SZ?

What kind of pictures do you want to see and why do you want to see them? Why the interest in the serial numbers? Did you search the alfabb for pictures and serial numbers of the SZ?

If you want all the serial numbers of the SZ round tail and clipped tail versions, buy the book 'Alfa Romeo Zagato SZ-TZ' written by Marcello Minerbi. Published in 1985 by La Mille Miglia Editrice and available through AbeBooks Official Site - New & Used Books, New & Used Textbooks, Rare & Out of Print Books (amongst others).

Photo: Clipped tail SZ owned by Fred van Lingen on the Assen TT circuit in august 2008 during the Spettacolo Sportivo of the Dutch Alfa Romeo Owners Club (with yours truly next to it).

Ciao, Olaf

Thank you. Just dicovered the Alfa Board. Thanks for the name of the book. I will purchase the book.

I thought it would be fun to see pictures of SZ Coda Tronca's in one place, if easily available, with serial numbers just for identification. Just curious to see some different cars.

When I recieve the car I will take some pictures and post along with info.

Hello Coda,

I would love to see some pictures of your car. Maybe you could tell us something of it's history as well? And maybe some people here even know your car.
If you use the 'search' option you can browse for threads on the SZ and pictures of it. Have fun!

Ciao, Olaf

Hello Coda,

Hey presto! That's a familiar looking car! In my opinion coincidence doesn't exist. And the Alfa world is a small one.
So you bought the Fred van Lingen Clipped Tail SZ. That's a nice buy! I didn't have much time to examine the car last august but it was looking very nice!
Congratulations!

Ciao, Olaf

SZT *00188* had its production date 19620210, and was sold to Rafael Lochen Izaguirre, c/o Soc. per il Commercio dei Prodotti Alfa Romeo, Lugano (CH). The man with the spanish name could have worked for the Swiss Alfa Romeo importers.

It was sold in 1978 to H. Vuarraz, Neuchatel (CH). I do not know by whom, but documents were with the car in 2003.

In 1987 it was sold by H. Vuarraz to another Swiss party (according to documents)

In 1997 it was discovered in fine unrestored albeit repainted original condition and resold again (CH). Now the new owner restored the car back to its original silver specification, it needed almost no metalwork when brought back to its bare alloy body, therefore he did not think it participated in major racing events

In 2003 it was offered by the last owner via VSOC with the above history and was sold within a few weeks

It participated regularly in Dutch historic events since

Thank you Martinue for the history.

I will looking though my notes.
Maybe I have some additional history.

The alfa factory was helpful and confirmed that the engine matches the chassis. I will post the letter later.

Here is a picture of the chassis number and another picture.

Hello. It really is a small alfa world!

P.s. Odd as it may seem, I really noticed a difference with the spark plug change. Thanks so much!
