I think the long tail SZ is even better looking than a TZ. There is (or was) an SZ longtail for sale in Wyoming, USA a few years ago. When I told someone with a big Alfa collection in Los Angeles about this car, he turned it down at $175,000. In my mind it is worth close to $300,000 now...

Thank you for posting the race photo.

One of the owners thought the car had been raced in Switzerland.

Currently, the mirror on the car is on the door. In the photo the car racing has the mirror in front of the door.
So,using a flash light, I just check the car for old screw holes under the body were the mirror had been mounted in the race photo. Surprisingly, their is old holes in the same location in front of the door that had been filled when the car was painted. Maybe the car in the race photo is 0188.

Thank you - interesting

I think this is the same car at the 2007 Raduno 6C in Antwerp.
Olaf, maybe you recognize the license plate ?

I believe there's an ex-TdF coda tronca being restored in the UK at the moment, but I'm not really at liberty to discuss who owns it.

Hello Ronny,

Yes, I think it is the same car. Can't be sure because the photographer is standing in front of the licenseplate. Photo's courtesy of SCARB and Nancy & Rolf van Hillegondsberg.

Ciao, Olaf

Hi Coda,
I am guessing it was your car that took top honors at the Palm Springs event? I got my issue of AutoWeek and almost messed myself when I saw another Alfa had taken top spot at a prestigious concours.
Diamonds in the Desert: 1961 Alfa takes top honors at Palm Springs concours: AutoWeek Magazine
This has been a great season for showing Alfas.
Cheers!

I also died when I saw it spelled Coda Trunka. Is this perhaps an Americanized spelling I have never seen before?

Well, as I re-read this thread and look more closely at the pics, I guess not. Mirror placement is wrong. I suppose you SZ fanatics know the location of these few cars and knew right off that they were not the same owners. Wow, two of them so close to one another!

The car in Pam Springs is Scott Gauthier's car. A magnificent coda tronca in an outstanding color combination (Beige over green interior). The car rightfully won best in show.

I have pictures of it at home and can post over the weekend.

Here's a Coda Tronca braking for turn 9 at Laguna during the Monterey Historics, Aug '85.
