Simon Moore describes this car (#2311228) on pages 727-729 of his book about 8C 2300 cars and even shows the exact same ad (less the Maserati monoposto). The ad must have been successful, as Moore writes that "according to Italian registration records, the car was exported to the USA on 28 July 1952."

Moore further mentions that, in 1980, Alain de Cadenet commissioned Paul Grist to fit a Zagato-style LeMans body on the car. The Colli body was sold to Julian Majzub, who still owned it when the book was written and/or published in 2000.
