8C block and crankcase at Norman Racing

I was at Norman Racing yesterday, who usually have amazing stuff sitting around. They had the crankcase from a 1931 8C 2300, according to Dennis Etcheverry the fourth one built, and the last competition car driven by Enzo Ferrari. It is of course a long straight-8 piece, but because it is made of magnesium it is unbelievably light, and you can lift one end with a couple fingers. It's an amazing casting that shows its age. It has a big stitched-in aluminum repair where a rod apparently went through the side long ago.

Sorry I didn't get pics or an engine number. They also have the two block pieces from Patrick Otis's 8C 2300.

I'm really interested to know where Norman Racing is or how I could contact these guys.

I am in the middle of producing many components for 8Cs... both for my own car and for other clients,

I still need lots...maybe they are making things I could use and visa versa

I should probably post a few images of my handy work

Dear Madchloe,

There are already tons of (expensive) new 8c and 6c parts, major and minor, being produced! Beware new Blocks, crankcases, axles, frames, and infact whole NEW cars!
This is a big-money industry already, with global producers.

Hi Laurence,

Yes I know of cars being produced, I saw the new Monza in this forum which I think is from Argentina, I am also aware of cars coming out of the UK in the past.
Finding components has been difficult and I have opted to produce pretty much all that I have.
Much of what I am doing is producing what were originally steel forgings, now cast by the lost wax process...with great attention the original aesthetic detail...if I say so myself they look pretty good.

if you know of anybody producing 8C bits I would be interested to find them to chat or maybe trade

FYI: The correct name is Crosthwaite and Gardiner and their web site is here.
According to this post, G&S valves in the UK has also made some 8C parts.

I am making a Monza, I was fortunate enough to work with a company that restored and maintained many 8cs, I fell in love with them and just have to have one, so I started collecting information, drawings and parts...now I have the chassis, radiator, bulkhead,and most of the running gear made, This coming year will see many more detailed components out of the way, and then the question of engine and gearbox???

I think C & G Cars are really expensive. Who else produce Cars?
Thinking a Bugatti T 35-51 Replica isn't much easier to produce, so normaly an Alfa Recreation shouldn't cost four times as much.

For those interested in making and or exchanging 8C parts I would be interested in talking to you.I have a Bugatti T37A replica under construction for which I have made most of the major components myself,crankshaft,rods,axle trumpets,along with castings from the BOC I have machined myself.I am currently involved in an 8C restoration project.

Hello Alex;

I'm not really looking for any Bugatti parts, but looking at my next project,hopefully an 8C replica.Thanks for your help in that direction.I would really like to team up with others doing the same to defray costs and time with each of us going down the same road.Much of the cost of making parts invloves tooling and setup time.My Bugatti project has most of the major components already.I referred to it mostly as a matter of experience.
