8C 2900 Info .........

Dear Alfa maniacs,

Is there someone who has a list of all 8C 2900 chassis numbers that where produced? Since a couple of months I am getting more and more interested in these cars and am also looking for an affordable copy of Simon Moore's book. It would be great if you can also post pictures of the different chassis numbers.

Yep, I have heard that rumour on a reprint/update too.
The original book is staring at me from the bookshelf and I have checked the chassisnumbers. It's quite easy; According to Simon Moore 412001 until 412043 are listed. I don't know what insights have been gained in the last twenty years. Supplying pictures from every car is more difficult. It means scanning he pictures from the book. Hell of a job! I suggest to wait for the reprint/update or buy a original copy!

By the way; Ben Hendriks wrote a great article on 8c 2900 in 'Het Klaverblaadje' (the cloverleaf), the magazine of the Dutch Alfaclub.
You might try to find that article! I don't know in which 'klaverblaadje' it was published, try www.alfaclub.nl for details.

The number of cars also includes the Tipo 412s; basically 8c2900A chassis with 12c37 motors. It is my understanding that 412037 and 412038 were 412s....but Fusi says there were 4 Tipo 412s??!!

Indeed Simon is busy with the new edition, and while part of the text will be reproduced from the 1986 edition, where still up-to-date, many new things will be found in it. Of course some updates about the listed cars, with some surprises, and chapter dealing with those discovered since. A chapter will also be dedicated to the 412, another to the S11 prototypes and the cars planned for the 1941 Mille Miglia.

Not sure about the release date, but I too understood it should come quite soon.

I'm just hoping it won't be prohibitively expensive, like Tony Adriaensen's Fiat 8V/Siata book. I am awaiting Simon Moore's Alfa pre-war GP car book too, which he has been working for at least 10 years....

Well.. After 3 days I found out the following

1) There are at least 4 8C2900s with a link to the Netherlands (Where I live).
Not bad for such a small country. At the moment there are still 3 cars owned by Dutch owners.

2) Researching the 8C2900 is a not possible without having read the book by Simon Moore… Prices for the 1st edition are so sky high that I am looking forward to the new edition (to be published next year)….

The reason for my research on the 8C 2900s is that I have planned to build 1:12 scale models of these cars. Long term project… First want to build some Bugatti type 57s.

The 2900 I like the most exists, but with a different but "period" body....I love the Zagato bodied spider. Second choice would be either one of the 2900 MM cars or the Le Mans coupe (which my uncle, Johnny Lurani, owned in the late 60s)..
