8C 2900 identification

Dear Alfisti,

I recently purchased a photo-lot including this photo of an 8C2900.

You can guess what follows...
I am searching for the chassis number

The car in the two-tone paint looked so familiar to me and indeed I found a photo of propably this car in the Fusi (Le Vetture Alfa Romeo...).
In the first edition it's on page 206 and according to Fusi it's a spider Touring 8C2900 Tipo A.
My photo seems to be taken on the same occasion like the one in the Fusi, you can identify the facilities of the Alfa factory in the background.
But on the photo above, the registration 55316-Mi is visible. Maybe that helps identifying this one. Further the first series included just 6 cars accoring Fusi, that should make it not too difficult. Btw, aren't there sources that claim that more tipo A cars were built? Sorry I don't have the 2.9 book

Maybe someone of you has it in reach.....

Best regards
Ciao Carlo

According to Simon Moore, chassis no. is 412006, originally spider corsa, then full-width Alfa Spider body(as picture), now(1986) Swiss version of spider corsa.
Hope this helps.

This indeed is #412.006. It started life as 412.004 in 1936 and was renumbered 412.006. It was shown at the Paris Motorshow of November 1936.
In 1937 a second 412.004 was built which now rests at the Schlumpf Museum in Mulhouse.
Another pic of #412.006 is added. After that a photo of 412.006 as it looks today, according to my archives that is.

Many thanks for your support!!!

As I am not an expert in 2.9 Alfas, it's interesting to learn about them.

Boudewijn, your photos are always a pleasure!
And thanks for the background informations, now I start wondering what car with number 412.004 won the 1937 MM
Btw, neither the car in the Schlumpf museum nor 412.006 in your files can match the beautiful two-tone coachwork by Touring..

Best regards
Ciao Carlo

Nice to se you 2 chaps again.
This question around the Carrozzeria for this design is a puzzle for me. Carlo you state its Touring, and I think you are right for the first one. But I have an impression that similar bodies also was produced internal by Alfa Romeo.
Can that impression be confirmed, or am I totally wrong

Simon Moore's #412.002 is such an example when rebodied by Alfa Romeo.

Wonderful photos Boudewijn - I'm not sure if the carrozzeria of chassis 002 can be beaten, just exquisite.

Any idea when was the last time those Schlumpf cars rolled under their own power??

Alex.
